Planning on making our 2nd trip to Fayetteville. In 2010 we stayed in a lovely state park in the hills outside of Fayetteville.I think it was called Devil's Den We had a much smaller 5th wheel then and we aren't sure we can get to the park with our larger
one, the roads were pretty narrow and curvy.

What campgrounds near Fayetteville with full hook ups do you recommend. I want to reserve pretty quick as I imagine availability is limited.

Thanks! Looking forward to the visit.

Devil's Den is navigable with big rigs as well. Another good one, though not as pretty, is Withrow Springs.

There are two exits for Devil's Den. The southern (Winslow) exit is very curvy with more than a few switchbacks. The northern (West Fork) exit is much, much easier to navigate with a trailer.

If you're coming from the south it's about 20 minutes further to go that way but might be worth it depending on the size of the camper you're hauling.

Also I'm pretty sure there's a sign on the Winslow exit that says if your camper is over a certain length to take the West Fork exit instead. I live in Fort Smith but sometimes take the long way around if I have a trailer or I'm with anyone that gets car sick.

Correct beck, I haul my 41' fifth wheel along the Northern route about twice a year. Slow easy through the curves, look of oncoming traffic and when clear just straddle both lanes.

Devils Den is nice but Beaver Lake may have some RV spots as well. Distance to campus is probably close to the same but Beaver would be closer to other things to do/ places to eat.

Lake Wedington area west of Fayetteville has some RV areas. I think Lake Fort Smith, about 20 more minutes south of Devil's Den has some, too.

Didn't think of Lake Ft. Smith. It's quite nice since they redid it. Sombrero is right about Beaver. Though it is north of Fayetteville, it would probably be in the same ballpark in terms of distance out of the way, since Devil's Den is West of I49. Another benefit would be that it would allow you to see more of NWA(assuming you've not spent much time here).

How much time were you planning on spending here?

Thought about that one too, definitely the closet to Fay, but didn't know they had RV hook ups.

Plan on leaving the Bham area on Wednesday, driving part of the way and then coming in early Thursday.
May not leave til Monday if we like where we park b/c we are then going to head over toward east TN for the UcheaT game. I swore I would never go back to that crappy puke orange and white checkerboard station yet I can't seem to help myself LOL.
Thanks for all the replies, gives me a lot to check out. We liked the area when we went before, but we weren't there long enough to really enjoy it.
We have a 36' 5th wheel with three slides that we pull with a GMC 2500 Long bed diesel.
