of all of our offensive possessions:

Here are my notes so far:

1st series
1-10- JW 2yrd rushing gain, Small changed his assignment because Loewen missed his cut back block on Clowney

2-8- Pass batted down, intended for H. Henry that was on a 1yrd route, would have been no gain if completed. The other TE that went out was wide open.

3-8- Shotgun 3wr split backs. Complete for 20 to Herndon. Good read by Allen, as Herndon was the only rec open.

1-10- Hatcher on speed sweep for 19yrds. Small and TE provided good blocking for play to advance for extra yards
1-10- Small for 15yrds right up the gut. USC has been in a straight 4-3 for most of these plays.

1-goal USC gets penetration up the middle to stop J Will for no gain

Collins in for a TD, good play for the stunt that SC ran

2nd series

Collins for 2, USC now has 8 in the box

2/8 SC has 9 in the box, Collins runs for 11

1/10 8 in the box with both safties within 9yrds of the line of scrimmage. I-form, toss sweep to AC for 2yrds, Small gets blown up and Tate gets called for holding

1/20 SC is in 4-3, Allen throws int, it was a terrible pass on his inside shoulder, only other receiver on the route was double covered, BA never took his eyes off of the first option though. Play was well covered, should have thrown it away.

3rd pos
1/10 Swing pass to Small for 2yrd gain, Hatcher didn't make his block

2/8 BA with incomplete pass to receiver. The route was a slant that was open and would have got us 6yrds, but pass was thrown behind rec.

3/8 SC in nickel, BA in shotgun, great protection, Allen overthrows a wide open rec that would have been a 15yrd gain.

4th pos

AC in bf, 2 wide, SC in 4-3, Cook or Henry missed their assignment on the speed sweep with Nate Holmes. Loss of 5, if executed could've gone for 5-8 yards.

2/15- I-form, 2wide, SC with 7 in box, incomplete pass to Hatcher that had 2 defenders on him, pass broken up. Herndon had his man beat and was wide open but Allen went to his first read.

3/15- 4 wide, AC off set, SC in dime, pass completed to AC for 5, designed play, the only problem was BA didn't let the dline get deep enough before he made the pass.

5th Pos

JWil in the I, 2yrd gain. He had a huge hole off tackle but must not have seen it. The oline had it sealed off.

2/8- 3TE set, 1 wide, Williams for 7 on a run to the strong side.

3/1- Off set I with Small and Arinze, loaded right side, SC with 9 on the line, the other 3 within 5 yrds. Couple of things went wrong: Swanson steps on BA's foot and delays hand off to Small and Arinze completely misses his assigned guy and goes and lays on the guy that Cook is driving to the ground. Arinze's guy hits Small in backfield.

Sam Irwin-Hill can absolutely boom that ball. 71 yarder, but goes down as 51.

6th pos
I-form, Ac,USC 4-3 with both safties within 10yrds,AC gets 5 after letting hole develop. Nice run.

2/5- Hogs no huddle, I-form, AC and small, 2 wide left, SC has 8 box, Collins for 1. Henry gets pushed back into the hole. Play could have gone for big yards if HH makes his block. Henry let the defender get underneath leverage and got whipped, he'll learn from it.

3/3- Hogs back in the huddle, Loan set with JWil, 2 te, 2 wide, SC still in 4-3, tight man, saftey within 8 yards. Play action to the right, BA throws back across the field incomplete, Sprinkle was the intended rec running the crossing route, he just never cleared through the LB'ers and got knocked down. SC bit hard on the play action.

4/3 Fake punt, Pass incomplete to a double covered sprinkle, but 3 guys went out for a route on the same side and #15 and the other guy were wide open. Sprinkle was 8yrds downfield and the other 2 were 5 and 10 yrds past him. SIH, had plenty of time, just didn't throw it to the right guy.

7th pos
BA takes a mercy knee to end the half, mercy knee for us.

First qtr:
Rushed 7 times
Passed 6 Score: 10-7 USC

2nd qtr:
Rushed 6
Passed 3
Fake punt pass- 1 score 24-7 USC

USC 24
UA 7

3rd qtr:
USC leading 31-7

8th pos

3 TE set, 1 wide, JWill loan set back, USC is in the nickel, Jwill to the left and has to cut back to the right for 3. Clowney blows the play up, even though he gets touched by at least 3 Hogs.

2/7- Loan set with AC, 2 stacked with one wide, USC 8 men in box, Hatcher goes for 51 yards on the sweep, gets stripped.

9th pos USC 38-7

Does it really matter what plays are called now?

In summary, our Qb play is pretty bad. the play calling is not the problem, execution is. I'm as critical as just about anyone on this site regarding this team, but the things that are happening are because of this staff being new.

Major props to our Oline and Sam Pittman, this group is getting better. 2 true freshmen and they are holding their own.

I don't like 2B's offensive philosophy, but WITH Chaney and more time spent on the passing game, this Razorback team will whip some arse. 2B's can't give up on the development of the passing game.

Keep your fingers crossed that we will have a good QB in Peavey and/or Storey.

Feel free to pick this apart and discuss.

Good breakdown. I'm not a fan of Chaney's timing of play calling but he is still calling plays that are getting people open. We just can't make the reads or execute the throws when we do make the right read.

I really like the sweep with Hatcher. I don't think that play has gone for a loss yet.

Which in the end boils down to poor coaching. Now I know the argument could be made about how the staff is new, but repetitions at practice make for better execution and according to Chaney and BB we aren't doing that.
