I'm liking the hire more and more, as the initial shock wears off.
He's young, only 42. I thought he was closer to 50. He's a Defensive guy, played NG, coached LB's, Has had really stout Olines, can make offensive adaptations, etc.
His strengths have been some of the program's weaker points in my lifetime. I can't help but think Peepaw is really excited about the hire.
He's established, been really successful in a major BCS conference, buts heads with national powers. He runs his program the right way from all accounts, has a hot wife. Is a newlywed of less than a year so hopefully the new of banging his wife hasn't worn off.
Strong run game, and effective passing game. Saw there's a report that he could have taken more $, but wanted less to spread around to assistants. Is a farm kid, grew up on a hog farm I read. I think he may fit in better here than I initially thought.
Comes from Hayden Fry, Bill Snyder, Barry Alvarez coaching trees. Those are 3 legends. The more the day goes by the better I feel about it.

Ney. We needed a HR. This is a stand up double. Solid coach, bt nothing spectacular. Question his ability to recruit the south.

Yea
We made a VERY respectable run at Petersen and didn't stumble when we had to close on another option.

He has a 68-24 (37-19) record including 3 Rose Bowls, 3 conference titles, his teams have finished ranked all but one year.
His resume is more impressive than any head coach we have ever hired.
What more do you want?

Looks like CBB is only going to bring 1 assistant with him.
