Too many people up in here.
quote:
Fayetteville continues to be the fastest growing city in the state, according to estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau last week.
With a population estimate of 80,621 people, the city added over 1,600 residents during the year ending July 1, 2014, more than any other city in Arkansas. It’s the third straight year Fayetteville has led the state in population growth estimates.

Top 4 are Fay, Springdale, Rogers, and Bentonville

Kinda blows my mind that Conway will soon be larger than North Little Rock, and at the same time that happens, Rogers will probably be larger than both of them.

My wife is almost giving me the silent treatment because I suggested taking a well paying job in the River Valley instead of moving up to NWA. She's dead set on coming up there.

Also, tell a mid 1980s Arkansan: "In 30 years, Bentonville will be larger than Pine Bluff". They'd likely answer with "Where the hell is Bentonville?"
They will pass each other in a year or two, Bentonville going up, PB heading down.

It isn't stopping anytime soon. I read where JB Hunt is building another tower on their Lowell campus and bringing 1500 more jobs to their HQ.
With Tyson's acquisition of Hillshire Brands last year, don't be surprised if they do something similar soon.

And it's not like NLR isn't growing. Last I visited, it had way more to offer than even 5 years ago. The surrounding cities, Sherwood especially, is growing too, though that may be mostly either white flight or retirees.
Conway's growth really is crazy. So much more there than years past. Times they are a'changin.

I've actually been thinking about moving up to NWA in the next few months since my gf is transferring to UA started looking at some jobs.
Guess everyone else loves the area too.

I'll be up there in seven years or less so I guess I'm just going to have to take your place.
So be thinking about where you want to move to.

I've thought a lot about moving to NWA once I graduate from LA Tech in the summer of next year, I love it up there.

Nice article by Rex Nelson on the booming Bentonville downtown::
LINK
I will say that it's very much, as this point in time, a "if you build it they will come" attitude up there. Ropeswing (with Walton help) is rocking stuff out and has deep pockets to do so.
Currently the reality of Bentonville's boom doesn't really live up to the hype, imo, but it will eventually I believe. They've got a great vision, great stakeholders, and a players that can fund and execute the concepts.

They told us they would be breaking down on the new building this summer. Should be another 4-5 story building with 1 being underground of course.

Downtown Rogers is starting to grow as well. When I say downtown I mean the original downtown. Tons of restaurants and a few bars to boot.

Every downtown is becoming its own "cool neighborhood", which is pretty cool as the cities grow together more.

Actually thinking about moving to the Fayettville area, my mom and dad moved to Springdale last year and like it. It's an alright area I guess. Nothing like you guys make it out to be.

Unless your parents are Williamsburg Hipsters wanting some artsy cheap urban farmstead while participating in public murals and experiencing firsthand an authentic multicultural melange, then I doubt they're really grokking Springdale. Its charms are pretty elusive (though it's certainly developing its own cool hipster frontier identity).
