The prediction here is he gets a contract extension and a raise that will elevate him to near the top of athletic directors. It wouldn’t be surprising if the folks in Little Rock are already working on that new deal.
Despite that, the guess here is Long will ride with Bielema, obviously seeing something that points to progress which has eluded many in the media and nearly the entire fan base.
Arkansas will continue the rebuilding year in football against No. 21 Auburn in Fayetteville this week.
The Tigers have a defense that Hogs offensive coordinator Dan Enos on Monday put at the same level as Alabama, who held Arkansas to just 27 yards rushing last week.

Someone posts on here about signs in a yard in Ft. Smith and now they’re pictured in an article about the Hogs. Hmmm...

Last year was a year that should not have been a rebuilding year, but because of his shite recruiting we were rebuilding on the offensive line. The line is still garbage after Its rebuilding year. Due to his shite recruiting.

We will never build anything worth a damn with Bert. If we keep him I'll be pissed honestly. I'm actually wavering in my like of enos. He is not calling quick passes to allow our qb's to get the ball out of thier hand quickly because our line is shite. You have to put your players in a position to be successful and he just is not doing a good job of that this year.

He's a worthless hack that has been in and out of the Arkansas media for years.

Tommy Kraft has hired him as another retread to bolster hitthatline.com.

At his weekly press conference Monday, Bielema tried to spin the narrative that this is a rebuilding season.

In order to have a rebuilding season you need to have something built. When have we been up during BB tenure?

Not familiar with Andy Hodges but sounds like he has been passed around in various media roles.

I don't see any way they keep Bret for next year. It's over for him. The only excitement in the fanbase is about who the next coach could be. The huge buyout was the only hold back and now...

I'm about out on Enos.

One game he's Bobby Petrino incarnate, and the next he makes Houston Nutt look like a playcalling savant. He's profoundly inconsistent from game to game in terms of game planning and playcalling. Stuff like repeatedly sending our 270lb freshman QB into the teeth of the Alabama defense on called runs, not using Hammonds at all, and not calling quick passes out of shotgun when AA is getting decapitated by opposing defenses until it's too late is frustrating as hell. He also hasn't gotten near enough flak for the second half collapses against Mizzou and Virginia Tech last year in which we scored a grand total of zero points in the second half of both of those games.

He's been living off 2015 for 2 years now.

Agreed.

I don't think Long is stupid enough to keep a lame duck coach who has completely lost the fan base at a time when fan engagement is probably most critical. We actually have a decent talent nucleus next year, and he'll need some way to drum up excitement for the inaugural season of the NEZ expansion and sell boxes.

If you want to see the bottom fall out of fan excitement and attendance, keep Bert for one more season after we slug our way to 4-8 or 5-7 this year and see what happens. A buddy and I were talking the other day, and he remarked about how Bert sucking has actually unified the fan base, and that we haven't been this united since the latter part of the Petrino era.

100% agree, this is a major factor that doesn't get talked about. Next season is a really good season to break in a new coach and get a fresh start. It might turn out horribly but the hype will be real going into the fall next year.
