Duwop also is scared of contact. He stepped away from the onside kick last night.

Duwop was trying to get out of the way when he accidentally beheaded that guy. It was pretty weird.. the best hit I've seen all year was delivered by a guy trying not to hit someone...

which is why I proposed trying to fix it through the walk on program by ID'n 3 stud athletes in states, giving them lotto schollys and redshirting them giving them 2 years to beast out in the weight room and learn how to be LBrs.

If we brought in 3 potential physical freaks a year we could certainly get production from a couple guys 3-4 years into the process. We hang onto players that give us nothing (Kody Walker, Josh Williams, Duwop (he's done btw), Brandon Lewis, the Hawaiian Guard, etc)

The redshirt program Bert is doing is worth while for Arkansas and should be kept going forward.

The walk-on program he has going is worth while for Arkansas and should be kept going forward.

Bert and/or future HCs should keep the above, but there is a need to process players who are only contributing to the scout team while on scholarship, none of which you named above fit this description, even worse to be on scholarship and not on the 105.

If you don't want to push them to transfer, that's fine, but they need to have *cough* suffered a career ending injury *cough* to get that medical scholly that doesn't count. Then he can sign 25 each year.

Instead of hurling the extra schollies out of state on future medical hardships and transfers, more time needs to be spent in South Arkansas/North Louisiana/Delta Mississippi. Does a guy look like a freak athlete, but he's at a small school? Take a risk with this guy with the "extra" scholly get him to the hill and see if the athleticism translates, if it doesn't help him transfer back closer to home to UAPB.

We got lucky with Gibson not landing elsewhere, but the strategy shouldn't be to only get them to walk-on first, some gambles are going to have to be made, and why not on the in-state kid? Several "reaches" proved to be just as good on the next level as they were at small school Arkansas.

This isn't basketball where every scholarship has to count. There are plenty of scholarships to gamble over a 4 year period if the program approaches it as contribute here or go somewhere you can with a "dick" HC who helps you move along when you are not contributing.

Basically Arkansas will always have to have Saban's mindset and approach to managing a roster to over come recruiting disadvantages to be competitive in the SEC, Saban isn't going to be at Bama forever and the next HC will not take this approach to the extreme Saban does, no other HC currently does.

I agree. There's lots of diamonds in the rough. I believe we could've found a use for crockett
