Not that I care all that much, but this will at least get us a new broadcaster for Men's basketball. I always felt like Jimmy was trying to be TOO objective and ended up minimizing some of Arkansas' good.
He definitely wasn't as near as homer as those fricking Cal announcers.

When was women's basketball mentioned this much though? It's a very big "splash" and getting lots of good pub for the team
Hope he does well

No, you hear more whining about hiring sons of certain people or people from certain places from the Central Arkansas crowd more than anything.

This has great potential to end well...

Fitting name for this job, amirite?

consider me a part of the pissy little fan base I suppose then.
Jimmy DYkes knows more about hoops than many and I mean many coaches at the highest echelon of college sports.
he has the finesse, personality, to recruit, coach, raise funds, and personify the university with the highest integrity.
I truly believe that. To be fair, I have been a huge Jimmy Dykes fan for year.
And Iron sharpens Iron. Meaning, I believe the entirety of the University Athletic Programs will be strengthened by the addition of Jimmy Dykes on the hill.
He has already said that he would help with recruiting for CBB, and CMA, and anyone he can help with.

Other parts available as well. Ok, flame on!

I like Jimmy Dykes and I think hiring him is a good move.
I also think that there were other considerations, namely the whole Springdale/Shiloh issue.

I don't care if there were other considerations, as long as he is successful in elevating the program, and aiding other athletic programs at the UofA with integrity.
I think this is an absolute homerun! The positives from the beginning are unbelievable. Mentioned at the highest levels of ESPN, SI, even CNN spoke about it already.

Exactly....
I truly do believe this will help all of our programs, if the other coaches will let him do so.
Great Hire!

A successful women's BKB team would be very exciting for the program as a whole.
Here in Waco, Kim Mulkey is a Demi-God, and her program is quite a beast. Her success also places a tremendous amount of pressure on the AD at Baylor to have successful men's programs...which he has done.
Over all, having great women's BKB is nothing but a good thing.
Honestly , I don't really care for the sport, but it damn sure elevated the expectations for the men's sports. That's a good thing

Care to elaborate, not sure who C. Arkansas has that should have been considered, besides Foley. He's not a huge household name down here.
I hear more about the jealousy of the good people of Shiloh than anything these days.

I'm not talking only about this hire.
Central Arkansas was behind the hiring and keeping of Nutt.
They also thought Horton was deserving of at least the Interim-HC title a couple seasons ago.
There has been other names for other positions on the various staffs that are brought up and built up, the most common theme is the candidates themselves are from Central Arkansas, none have ever shown any other qualification for said jobs.

I guess. The only person Shiloh white knights for is Malzahn who they thought was qualified to replace Nutt as HC.
These same people may build up Dykes, there was a push for Dykes to replace Pel a few years ago, but he is just the WBB coach now. He gets a nice salary for the contract length, if it doesn't work out he will be back at ESPN when its over.

So the good folks of C. Arkansas, NE Arkansas and anyone associated with Shiloh shouldn't have an opinion on who they think the coach should be.
Since you didn't list Stan Heath, John Pelphrey, Dana Altman, John L Smith as people that C. Arkansas supported, I would assume the rest of the state were behind these hires.

None of the names you list had any prior connections to the program before they were first hired, that is not what I'm talking about.
What I'm referring too is the pining for unqualified candidates for jobs just because of past connections to the state or program.
It extends over to athletes who go to one of a handful of schools who actually wanted them, then its a "why didn't they sign so and so", IJ Ready, Dusty Hannahs, Dixon, Clay, etc.

NO.

I'm still not so sure.
Face it. With Saint Gus we'd have Arkansas on a TV and Bowl ban within 3 years.
