Huntington has become one of top programs in the area and has sent both boys and girls to the razorbacks recently. Once you have alumni pushing ARK it can be tuff to get recruits pointed back to the Tigers.

I'll have to say, I have never heard of him untill his freshman year at Ark., and I doubt there was much talk of him on the RB. I do tend to wonder if trying to bring in Shavon Coleman was a factor, but even then though as you said, the roster was still full of scholly spots. It would have been worth a try to get him

Keep in mind, once again, Qualls was signed to Ark by October of 2011. Coleman didnt even commit/sign with us until April of the next year. Wasn't Malik Morgan the only commit Trent secured before Johnny Jones got here? I think JJ added Coleman as soon as he was hired.

Qualls was simply overlooked by Trent Johnson.

Even if we brought him in, considering how bad we were at the time, how much of a difference would he have made? The team back then had a talent issue across the board.

I'd give TJ credit for Hamilton too.

And for 2008, does Brady get credit for the majority of that class?

That said, Qualls was a miss for LSU. He wouldn't be starting, but he would be getting a lot of minutes.

He's avg. 1 ppg more, 2 rpg more, and 1 apg less than Stringer. He's not a bad player, but I doubt he would be a huge difference maker on this team either.

I dont see how he wouldnt be starting for us considering what he's doing right now at Arkansas. He'd probably be our starting 2 replacing Stringer. Dude is 6'6 vs. Stringer's 5'9 and is putting up even better numbers.

I was going to comment about his shooting ability not being close to Stringer. After looking it up, he's doing better than I thought. While he doesn't shoot a lot of 3s, he's been very good from the 3pt line. Quite an improvement.

Qualls wasn't overlooked by LSU. Simply wasn't what LSU was looking for. His shot has improved TREMENDOUSLY. He was every bit of 6'6 his senior year and couldn't hit the side of a barn. Straight, dunker. Anyone stronger than him, he wouldn't even drive. Huntington came to Peabody in the Quarters and we put a 6'2 guard on him and he scored I think 8 points all at he free throw line. He averaged close to or over 20 all year.

But that's the difference with improvement and the way the college game is played. 2 kids from that same game, now on the same college team, Qualls got a chance cause of his size...he improved, Dee had 12 in that game against Huntington and sat for probably 20 of the 32 mins due to foul trouble. NOW...he's on the bench simply cause he's too small for Arky's system and sitting behind a PG who can defend due to size...but can't shoot. Just the way it is.
