Never really knew anything about the man, still don't really.

However, he had a couple decent runs at SEC schools. His Cincy squad is better than average.

He knows the dirt it takes to compete in the SEC.

He's not fat.

His back up freshman QB has more moxy than our 5th yr senior coach's kid ever thought of having.

He's southern. He knows how to act in the homes of southern recruits.

He'd work for less $.

eta: hiring him would really piss off OM, Bama, and Aubie posters.

He was actually my choice during a previous search. I don't really care who it is anymore. I've kind of gone a bit numb to it. I'd guess I'd like to see Bert pull it off since hes not going anywhere for a while anyway.

I just want whoever it is to win.

He's from Camden

How many great/good coaches have come from a hundred or so mile radius from there? Switzer, Bear, Tubbs for sure

Obviously by making this thread.

Tuberville in 1998? Great hire.

Tuberville post 2008? Not so much.

I'm convinced now more than ever that the best chance for us to compete at a high level is to hire a spread coach. Look at Baylor, Texas Tech under Leach, Clemson, etc. The best way for outmatched schools to compete on the national level is to hire a spread coach.

To Tuberville...hell no!!!

Spread offense? All depends on the coach. It does seem like the best route for teams that can't recruit great talent. I still like the route BB is taking. Just don't know if he has the coaching skills to coach'em up and beat the big boys. But as teams morph to stop the spread, a more balanced attack with a power run game would be unstoppable. Now if we can get a dominating line. I've said we should recruit the linemen like other schools do skill players. Show them the love. Then you can still whup arse with 3 star talent elsewhere. frick it!!!!!! We're never winning shite no matter what route we take.

Think I'm going to try watching the NFL more. At least every team is on mostly equal footing

Love tubs....

And wanted him in the past, has the game passed him by? I don't think so, he has changed his philosophy to work with his players/conference.

But then again, I also like B. Davis

I watched the Cincy/Memphis game last night. I'll pass.

Had we made this call the day Auburn fired him I would be good with it but he is past his prime now.

Did you see how his fr QB came in and was clutch.

Something we've not had at QB since TW and Matt Jones

Tuberville is a good coach...I have no doubt. His last year at Auburn was not a good example of what he can do. Tony Franklin wasn't a fix for what was really needed at the time and Auburn pulled the plug way too soon IMO.

On a side note, his brother Charles is a pretty good musician.

Agree totally, and I used to disagree with this mindset.

Don't get me wrong, I love the way Bama (and LSU for the most part) plays football, but their respective recruiting bases allow for that type of philosophy. Arkansas just doesn't produce good linemen regularly, and we produce an astonishingly low number of linebackers and secondary personnel. We produce good skill position players, which could feed that type of offense, but I don't think we have the type of recruiting base to be able to field a team that is reliant on a strong running game and a great defense.

We have a spot as recruiting coordinator if he is interested.

I will admit I did see a coach I liked during that game. It wasn't Tubs though. A decade ago maybe. Right now he's damaged goods and starting to show signs of being past his sell by date.

Justin Fuente, on the other hand, dragged Memphis... Memphis!... to a conference championship last year and national ranking. The only thing that would be more impressive then that is Army landing in a major bowl game.

He's young, he doesn't get discouraged when his teams face major adversity (4-8 and 3-9 his first two seasons at Memphis), and he's shown that he can undertake a major rebuilding process.

I'll back Bret but if we had to get a new coach Fuente might be the guy to look at.

I agree with you regarding Fuente. He's a good one!
