If we need to build the program back up...

Why not the guy who specializes in building programs from the ground up? I know we aren't looking, but we should be, and why not Jerry Kill at NMSU?
He's not a spring chicken at 62 but he's younger than Pittman and he's been successful at every place he's been. Okay, .500 at Minnesota when he was coaching while next to death due to cancer. Given it was the Gophers and he kept having seizures on the sideline from the cancer I'm inclined to give him the nod on that one.
Kill won't win a national title for us. But he could probably build a fairly decent overall program and at this point wouldn't we be happy with that for a few years?

If that’s our threshold for hiring the next coach, shut the football program down and invest in basketball and baseball lol

No doubt we need to hire a program builder.
IMO it would also be wise of us to only pay the HC $2-3 mil and then spend the other millions on the players to get the best roster we can compile.
I'm not talking about spending all on one or two top end 5-stars but players who fit the scheme/system and want playing time from these top programs.
It wont happen because HY doesn't like paying players and Arkansas won't be the first to try something like this but teams who aren't at the top will experiment with a strategy like this in the next few years.
NFL revenue is shared between players and owners with the NCAA moving this way HC's in the NFL make like 5-10% unless one of the elites.

This is exactly what we are doing

Heath issues is the only reason. The man can coach a team up and has been a winner everywhere he's been, despite inheriting some dumpster fires over the years. His history is very impressive and he seems like a lunch pail kind of coach, we'd be fortunate to hire someone like him when the Pittman experiment inevitably fails

We need to find a coach that hates losing. You don’t compete unless you expect to win. That doesn’t mean you will win them all but it’s a different mentality and one someone should have when making millions of dollars.

If we're looking at Minnesota coaches, I'd take PJ Fleck over Kill. 2 9 win seasons and an 11 win season in the last 5 years. Having a down year this year... May be able to get him at a bargain if we tried.

I don't think his personality would be a good fit in Arkansas.

Aranda had an 11 win year, let’s jump on him!

He plays in the weaker side of an overall weaker conference. The open conference next year will lead to no more 9 wins.

He isn’t boisterous at all, he wouldn’t fit in here. He isn’t a rah rah guy. He also has collapsed the past two years, and is on the hot seat.
He also isn’t a flip flopper, he will stay there until fired.

Hire guys like this as consultants or analyst or whatever Saban is calling them nowadays.
Put a good one in the booth on the headsets with a Batline to Sam so that when he’s lost he can get some help.
