Not only do other schools/conferences have "sec" money to pay HCs the true difference maker gap is being narrowed as well, exposure.

This is thanks to the sec network, the sec actually had a better deal exposure wise before th creation of the network, especially when the deal was made where all but one game would be televised, and that game could be sold by the school for ppv. Back then the sec had the early game locked up for the majority of the country on over the air tv, then the entire country at 2:30 with cbs. Then the sec networks were locked up with sec games at 6 and 8.

That left the other conferences fighting for a spot on abc at night and a couple time slots available late on ESPN and fox, this was forcing conferences to play Thursday and Friday night games for exposure.

Now there is an early national slot up for grabs, but not for the sec who airs on the secn then the game that follows competes with cbs. Doesn't seem like much, but now you are seeing more B1G teams on ESPN/abc that would otherwise only been seen on the B1G network, more acc/big12/PAC/AAC games as well.

The schools have chose to narrow the pay gap, ESPN has tried to narrow the exposure gap, the ncaa has narrowed the path with the playoff, end result will be like in basketball where major HCs do not need to be in X conference or at X school to have a realistic chance.

LSU firing Miles after 4 games while averaging 10 win seasons and winning over 70% of their games for a decade is not a desirable job to the majority of the major HCs in the country, or most jobs in most of the P5 have a more realistic job security to performance scale than LSU right now. Just like Tennessee hasn't been a desirable job after the way they ousted Fulmer and just look at the top coaching talent they've attracted since then....

Yep. Add to that the talent gap is closing simply by virtue of rising population and static number of Division I schools and it gets easier to compete at smaller programs by the day.

You see it every weekend more and more upsets. We play some crappy school and they have 4-5 star playmakers that couldn't make the grade or stay out of trouble at the P5 schools.

With the playoff being more fluid and not taking as much stock in pre-season polls or previous rankings it is actually an advantage to be at a smaller school if you can stay undefeated and grab a couple signature wins along the way.

Yep. I almost made a thread saying "You guys don't know how to melt, go check out Tiger Rant" after they lost Saturday night.

And that was before they fired Miles

What a time to be alive!
