It's also been a difficult season off the field for the Bulldogs, with the death of offensive line coach Jorre McMahan on Sept. 27 and the hospitalization of defensive coordinator Brandon Austin before Hampton's Class 2A second-round game Nov. 18 against Foreman because of chest pains. Austin returned to the sidelines last Friday at Des Arc.

I know a few Hamptonians- pretty sure this is only their 2nd or 3rd year of football right?

Its their 2nd year since restarting the program, but Hampton as a school district, has had football since the school started way back when. The issue was numbers about five years ago. They kept playing junior high football schedule, but got rid of the senior high program.

This season, they benefited a lot from Hermitage canceling their season and getting about 10 or so talented kids from that school district.

Even the slightest change in kids going out for football can derail a program at that level, congrats to them for being able to field a football team again.

Oh, the bet with Mizzou has run its course so you can switch the team avi back now
