You know, while I loathe Texas and its fans... that is a pretty cheap way to go about things. Whatever minute loss of income you might have isn't worth ticking off your most devote fans.

Unless it was a clear cut copyright violation, when you have to act to protect your intellectual property, then there is a time to turn a blind eye to things. From what I can tell, and I have been enjoying the prolonged cry down (not really a melt, they are too beat down for that right now), those folks spend a butt load of money supporting the team.

If you have to charge them a fee for the name then make it dirt cheap. Better to keep the fans happy during this craptastic football run then to needlessly make them more annoyed with you.

Not exactly.

Arkansas head coaches are expected to sign any player wanted by any other SEC school or is highly ranked on the websites.

Fit and off the field issues don't matter, if they have several stars next to their name or offers from big name programs then it is demanded they be signed to play for the Razorbacks.

It is not coincidence that teams that rely on Texas and are filled primarily with Texas recruits haven't won a NC in a decade.

true, but everybody knows Arkansas doesn't produce a full recruiting class of SEC guys each year so they "have to get" the half of a class that is usually instate and then they can go get whatever they can get anywhere else. Pretty much anybody from far off gets some benefit of the doubt for being exotic.

Texas is behind on the times, Frank did the same thing back in 2004ish.

The result was businesses changing names when they originally contained "Razorbacks", businesses changing logos that originally contained a Razorback, etc.

Basically all the money grubbing penny pushing type stuff Long is blamed for introducing to Arkansas.

Seems the new Utx AD or Pres is about getting $$$$ out of everything burnt orange they wanted SB to cough up dough for the use. Instead they changed to the generic texas and saved the $$$$.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember this. What a bunch of greedy bastards, but then it is Texas, so I'm not surprised.

On Texas players, I agree that they're a little soft today, but it's a big state and still produces some great talent. Alabama and LSU both sign some good players from there, and both know a little about finding great talent.

The main thing with Arkansas, though, is that proximity is a staple with recruiting and East Texas is the largest recruiting hotbed nearby. Although we've struggled in recent years, we have history in the state, so they know us. Texas has supported multiple powerhouses in the past, such as Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and even Nebraska some, and it will one day again, so we need pipelines there.

The only other state that may excite me more then Texas is Louisiana, because it's also close and produces a lot of great players. I never thought we'd ever recruit well there, but we seem to be making good progress. We can grab players from other states, but Louisiana and Texas are the only 2 that offer both proximity and rich recruiting grounds.

Having said that, I'm all for taking all the players from Florida and Georgia that we can get.

I think in state recruits pan out the best for us of any state we recruit % wise for some reason.

They generally seem to come in under publicized relative to out of state recruits.

Texas has ton of athletes, you just have to be careful who you select, and CBB and staff seem to be pretty good so far at recognizing the intangibles needed to develop a player.

Offering 10th graders hasn't worked as well for Texas lately.

I was working for a pizza place that had named itself razorback pizza (not the one in Maumelle) when that was going on.

it had to change the name and change the name of their signature pizza, the woo pig sooie. guy that owned the place was from ohio, was a big buckeyes fan, and was just trying to capitalize on peoples love for the Razorbacks

I frequent the shag quite a bit, and I normally enjoy it over there, but man they sure know how to melt.

Yea, that's one reason I'm excited about Jordan Jones. Bielema doesn't offer younger players much, but offered Jones when he was a junior on first sight.
