Pregame Delusions:

"By December, it will seem crazy that this one was considered an upset."

"Coach Strong has our boys turnt up ready to wreck $#@!. Hide, yo childrens. Hide yo pets. Hide yo $#@!, because the Texas Longhorns will $#@! up all that Irish $#@! on national TV. Be ready. But don't be surprised."

"Im probably at the highest point of the season right now and loving it"

"Got damn we're going to $#@! up the Irish"

The Meltdown:

What's the $#@!ing point of running zone-read plays if the Qb never keeps the ball and is slow as $#@!?

So we get our $#@! packed and you think you will make us feel better about Notre Dame and that $#@!sucking coach of yours with vacuous compliments?

You are SO nice. How about you $#@! off? That would make me feel better.

Depends on who the $#@! is calling plays in this mickey $#@!ing mouse outfit because whoever is doing it deserves Jonathan Gray's ire. $#@!, I betting each one of us would drop a bill to give the responsible party a couple of gut punches.

Im sick of the hard headed not Swoopes fault $#@! from strong and Watson, it ain't workin $#@!in try something different. When you're losing by thirty you can put ridgeway at rb and doesn't matter just do something beside beat your head against the $#@!in wall. $#@!in annoying.

Just the overall air of melancholy and acceptance that they are doomed is pleasing to read. Even Notre Dame's stadium was a miserable place to watch a game with uncomfortable seating and zero leg room.

Later tonight I plan to relax with a good wine and read through the comments. A little schadenfraude truly enhances the flavor of wine.

Neg me. Whatever. I was at the game and we looked the exact same as we did against Arkansas. Nothing different. This is just as embarrassing as those huge losses against ou. He is NOT the coach we need at this university. I wish he was, but he isn't. Fire Charlie

It does my heart good to know that we're still in their head.

They've lost their last 3 games (to TCU, us and Notre Dame) by a combined score of 117-20.

Holy lulz.

Arkansas got out

Nebraska got out

Colorado got out

Texas A&M got out

Missouri got out

Oklahoma wants out

At a point, you see a trend, you move on, and you stop looking back to the past. Let them play each other till the cows come home but don't get sucked into that vortex.

I think Texas was as in bad shape when Strong took over as we were when Bielema took over. I do like seeing them melt though:)

They have a roster full of the top rated, highest sought after Texas recruits.

The Texas players peaking in HS is good for the NSD rankings, bad for winning College games.

This is Texas' downfall.

Meanwhile, Aggy is desperate to get these same type of players that lead to UT's fall, Texas arrogance at its finest.

That's a good point. Bielema sees the potential, not just the stars and develops players, the culture changes take time for sure. Hard for fans to be patient.

This is why I'm glad we've placed more emphasis on Louisiana and Florida recruiting, honestly. We don't need Texas' 7-on-7 HS spread offense nonsense when building the type of teams Bielema likes to build.

Texas is at a disadvantage in one really big way. Because they are the (former) premier school in one of the top 2 recruiting hotbeds, they are expected to take the top players in their state regardless of whether they fit the system. Even if Strong has doubts about a top recruit he must recruit him or face the wrath of fans and donors.

It's like the Tebow conundrum. Say you have the best QB to ever come out of college and you have the #1 pick in the draft. But you don't think that QB will work in the NFL or your system. You are fricked because you must take him just in case he does work. Because if you pass and he does pan out you look like a moron.

That's what Texas is facing every year in recruiting. Bielema, on the other hand, can pick guys that work for him because no fans expect him to get the top 5 guys from Texas.

Just look at Tevin Beanum. He was an unheralded two star out of Forrest City who committed to no fanfare and he blossomed in our redshirt program and developed into a starting DE.

Brooks Ellis was a three star with a meh offer list who has been the anchor of our linebacker corps going on 2 years now.

A lot of coaches talk about how player development matters more than recruiting, but Bielema actually practices what he preaches.

Not exactly.

Arkansas head coaches are expected to sign any player wanted by any other SEC school or is highly ranked on the websites.

Fit and off the field issues don't matter, if they have several stars next to their name or offers from big name programs then it is demanded they be signed to play for the Razorbacks.

It is not coincidence that teams that rely on Texas and are filled primarily with Texas recruits haven't won a NC in a decade.

Texas high school football is largely overrated.
Pulaski Academy (Little Rock) went down and pushed in Highland Park's doo doo.
Highland Park's first home loss in... like, forever.

Is it just me or do the Texas HS players seem soft? IMHO, they are so,coddled and spoiled they don't know how to take a punch.

Been saying this for forever. Texas HS football gets a lot of love nationally because "durr it's a religion down there" when in reality it's glorified 7-on-7 completion.

My wife's brother played high school ball in Texas and we went to a few games. It was a pretty large classification school, and I could count on one hand how many runs I saw.

Of course, there are SOME good ones that come out of there... withness Jonathan Williams etc. But sure seems a lot of the 'starred' ones wash out.

Seems the new Utx AD or Pres is about getting $$$$ out of everything burnt orange they wanted SB to cough up dough for the use. Instead they changed to the generic texas and saved the $$$$.
