Cane's toast and sauce is sent down from the almighty heavens. They're lemonade and sweet tea are bomb too. Slim's might have the best chicken but they're much smaller than the other two. Zaxby's is basically Slim's with a spicier special sauce and lower quality of everything else. Their toast also sucks.
Popeye's is in a separate category of chicken places with KFC, Church's, and Bojangles.

I'm a little worried that KFC has beaten all these upstart "cool" chicken houses at their own game. KFC has staked out the Nashville Hot Chicken turf and claimed it as their own. I was skeptical and never eat this kind of crap, but after reading a ton of positive online reviews, I gave in. It's legit.
So now you have a major chicken chain that is more "hip" than all these smaller upstarts. Kind of interesting. I predict that cane's and slim's and the rest will soon follow suit with their own "hot chicken" specials.

Should add that it's not exactly like Nashville hot chicken. A fast food restaurant is not going to go that spicy. It is, however, pretty dang tasty.

They're bringing back the Colonel, man!
All I'm saying is that it kind of surprises me that a national chain jumped on the Hot Chicken bandwagon that quickly. Hot chicken was just starting to pick up national food buzz and make the food radar beyond the south. Now KFC has done gone and ruined it by bringing it to the mainstream.
It would have been nice to see some of those guys take a stab at it first.

Agreed. Cane's sauce and toast are where it's at, and Cane's does have larger chicken strips. Slim's has better fries, though.

KFC is desperate to become relevant again. Their mushy, disgusting chicken for basically 10 years has created a "lost generation" of people that won't even consider eating there. Luckily they focused on China during that time otherwise they'd really be fricked

Glad to see that Slim's is doing well. It seems to have really blown up all at once.
When I was in college about 10 years ago, you could not get into the Slim's on College on Sunday from noon to mid afternoon because of all the hungover college kids. They were packed in there like cattle.
Also, when I was in college my mom used to give me Slim's gift cards in my stocking at Christmas or in a birthday card or whatnot. My brother (who didn't go to UA) told me that he was always thinking "WTF is this chicken place up in Fayetteville?" Then Little Rock got a Slim's.
I bet he eats it twice a week now
