I just can't understand how the secondary was supposed to be the strength of the defense coming into the season and they are one of the worst we've had in years(and that's saying A LOT). Were the coaches just trying to build their confidence saying this shite before the season started or are they really that horrible at evaluating the different units on the team?

All comes down to the front four. We bring back pretty much the whole D next year, hoping the light comes on for some of these D-Linemen.

Terrible decision not to trust BA with going for the win, or at least a pass in the final possession of the game for a first down, particularly considering the way he's been playing the past several weeks now that everything has "clicked" for him, not to mention the fact that he was on fire last night - tied SEC record with most passing TDs (7) in a game (regulation). Obviously, the missed FG wasn't the kicker's fault, but that's not the issue. The issue is why Bielema made the baffling decision he did not to have Allen throw when he's shown complete confidence in Allen, repeatedly, even when it wasn't deserved earlier in the season, and trusted him to go for a 2-pt. conversion against OM for the win instead of the tie, which was successful, yet didn't show that same confidence in a situation last night in which BA was obviously completely capable of pulling out the win, and odds are he would have. Totally inexplicable of Bielema.

And although the defense was horrible, that was not a surprise in the least, and was pretty much expected, especially against Prescott & company, by anyone who's watched our less than stellar secondary & rather bad tackling throughout the season. If our coaches weren't expecting it, or at least that it was a strong possibility, like most everyone else did, I don't have much confidence in them at the moment. ... Sure, if our D would've played better, we might not have been in the position at the end of the game that we were, and if the queen had balls, she'd be king; what's the point? The fact is that we WERE in that position. It's a totally moot point to say that IF the defense would've played better, then blah, blah, blah. They didn't, and we were in the position that we've been in many times this season. Brandon Allen has proven in the past several weeks that he now knows how to be successful in that position & executes well in that position, so taking the defense out of the equation since they were a non-issue last night anyway, Bielema should have trusted BA in that position to get the win. He's proven he can, has more experience in that position than the field goal unit, and Bielema's trusted him many times in that position before. It makes no sense that he wouldn't last night. It very possibly ... probably ... cost us the win.

This was an important game to win, just as the MIZZOU game is, and it's going to be a tough game as well, no doubt about it. I just hope last night's lack of good judgment & inexplicably bad decision at the end of the game on Bielema's part in not showing confidence in Allen to pull out the win doesn't deflate the players for next week's game. With all they've been through & how far they've come, especially the seniors, the players deserve to finish out the regular season at home on a high note with a winning record, & to head to whatever bowl game in a positive frame of mind. This time, Bert's the one who better tighten up before next week, for the players' sakes.
