For him to still be at State, he must be an absolutely awful interview because he is the 2nd best coach in the conference and is arguably the best QB coach in the country. He won't come here but I would take him in a heartbeat if he would. Some power school is going to finally overlook his intricacies and pull the trigger on him, one of these days.

Apparently he comes off as a complete a-hole, and is reportedly largely disliked - though respected - in coaching and AD circles. He was reportedly a front runner for both the Miami and Oregon jobs and didn't get them after interviewing, and the same could be said for the Georgia job after Richt was fired.
However, he's the second best coach in the SEC by a large margin.

I don't give a shite how well he's liked by AD's... That fricker can flat out coach.
Mullen and Jeff Brohm are 1a and 1b for me...
In saying that, I do think a school finally pulls the trigger on Mullen this yr... If I'm Florida, Tennessee, LSU or Auburn, I'm openly offering him the job. My pitch... Come to our school and you'll have twice the talent... Let's go win a national title.

The most glaring difference in State and us, is they are executing at every level; especially special teams. Dan Mullen has a losing SEC record for what its worth...

I'm probably one of the biggest haters of this dude. Idk why he just rubs me the wrong way, and I just don't buy the dude as a superstar coach. The whole Leo Lewis shite definitely makes me suspect, and Ed O is LSU's HC.
IF he wins the west this year then good for him. I'll buy into his stock then. But I'll take this as LSU isn't that good, and definitely botched the hire.

Beating Alabama isn't winning the West. A lot more goes into it than just that, and that's why I said that. This guy needs to show a lot more before consideration.
He was good w Dak - oh wait #1 and then poof, not a great coach in big games (LSU blew tonight so take that fwiw), and the dude has had plenty of time.
Just a little thought - pretty sure LSU hasnt finished above 3rd the last few years. And then you hire Ed O.

That's one of those Bert / Russell Wilson brag thing.
Every coach has ties to great players.
Dak was a great QB for State & Mullen, but he was on fire the end of college, and exceeded expectations his rookie year.
And the Tebow & Cam thing you mentioned, yeah... That's Tim Tebow & Can Newton being freak of nature college qbs.

by the time we hire another coach, I am afraid that being desperate will be the least of our problems.
He is a GOOD coach... and I like the edge he has personally..
