We have melted to the point of global warming not being just a threat, but an immediate disaster.

Our ice bergs are now sonic slushies at happy hour.

So, lets talk what ifs... What if Smith is fired.. Who? PR would be a good guess, Strong... Perhaps, but doubtful. etc.

And Linebackers.. Fire Hargraves and who is next?

So, laying the blame at the feet of the man who cant see them.. .CBB? who would we hire that would
1. Do better at recruiting, now remember that he is slightly better at recruiting rankings than Nutt, and Petrino currently. Not a long of change has been show with anyone in our past.
2. Do better at finding and keeping assistants? Smith's praises were sung after 1 season, Enos is still being praised. and Hargraves knew what he was doing, Remember the "Fire Michael SMith talk. Geesh, thank God he has been here.
3. PR, who would do better at PR in Arkansas. Petrino was a disaster, Nutt was a Hugger, his own. who?
4. Now we have folks wanting a Malzahn, a Briles, a Kelly, a???? How low on morality are we willing to go? What are we willing to accept in order to replace someone whom the majority of NCAA football was a homerun hire? How about Levitt? He would whip em into shape!

5. AD Long has done a great job inho. Got us away from the GOB network of the past in many ways. and lifted our facilities into contention with many others.

So many questions, so few real answers. But common sense to me is this. We aren't getting rid of CBB anytime soon regardless of the outcomes. The payout is too high all around. Now, assistants is a different story. Thoughts?

Brett will get another year no matter what happens so melting now is wasted.

My money still says y'all are going to be good soon

No melt would be more concerning

Win 3 or more of the remaining games, the melt goes away. Winning cures a lot

Why don't we just move back to an SWC type of conference where we can win big and believe we are a great team til we play a team from the conference like we are in now and get the hell beat out of us like we used to.

Bret has said that he will bring in the best character players he can get, no thugs or problem children, and no shortcuts. This sets us back a bit because many character issue kids could help lead to wins, but could also not last or destroy locker rooms. Also a threat to the community.

Trying to do things right seems to handcuff the program somewhat.

I like this coach more than any since Broyles, until he gives me a reason not to.We just play in a brutal half of the conference against folks that don't mind taking shortcuts.I'm rooting for a guy that wants to do it right... Woo Pig..

Maybe Tulane could be swapped for Colorado St. for access to New Orleans and S. Louisiana but I'd rather go to Fort Collins than skanky New Orleans for road games.

Gimme crunchy craft beer making hydro growing hipsters over getting mugged by a tranny's black boyfriends/pimp off Bourbon St. anyday.

i honest to god am shocked at people who want BB fired I really am. that's some new level melt shite there.

we got our fricking asses handed to us. it happens.

we have won more games for 2 years in a row. we got a 50% chance to do it again this year.

coming into the auburn game Arkansas had the leading passer and the leading rusher in the conference.

we got rolled by auburn, a and m and bama and there are probably...11 (i just counted) other power 5 teams that would not be rolled by those same 5 teams. 4 ore in our own conference.

even worse, OUR frickING COACH BUILT ONE OF THOSE 11 TEAMS. ARE YOU GUYS frickING LISTENING TO YOURSELVES?

I can honestly say I have 100% faith in bert, that he will win an SEC championship before he leaves here. it might not be tomrorow. it might not be 5 years from now but it will happen. he's too good of a coach.

I thought we were all on the same page with the fire robb smith bandwagon. he needs to take his happy arse on somewhere but bert? seriously?

I'm not on the "fire Bert" bandwagon (yet). However, losing 56-3 in year 4 as a ranked team is profoundly unacceptable and should not be tolerated.

I like Bert. I think he's a genuinely good dude, if not a bit immature in his public persona and how he carries himself at times, and he knows how to win. That much is evident in his track record as a player and coach. However -- and this is not me calling him Nutt 2.0 -- he's also shown that, like we became accustomed to with Nutt, he'll derp it up at twice a year and come into a game completely unprepared. Toledo, Texas Tech, Louisiana Tech and Auburn come to mind. Note that only one of those is an SEC team, which doesn't lend itself to finding silver linings. Also, at a certain point, he just is what his record says he is here. Like I've said before, I throw out 2013 because he inherited a trash fire, and it's always unfair to judge a coach on his first year (look at guys like Saban and Nutt). Even doing that, he's 20-14 overall, 8-12 in the SEC, and he's got multi-year losing streaks against Bama (understandable), A&M, and Mississippi State. I posted this in another thread, but he's 1-14 against Bama, A&M, Auburn, and State since he's been here. That's unacceptable.

I'm also worried that he's asleep at the wheel when it comes to recruiting and roster management. Our talent and depth situations at offensive line and linebacker are reaching near critical mass next year, and defensive line isn't looking too good, either. In 2017, our offensive line is basically Ragnow and a bunch of question marks. Our linebacker situation is essentially Greenlaw and a bunch of question marks. Our defensive line is Agim, Beanum and a bunch of question marks. Going into a season with no confidence your offensive line and defensive front seven is not a good place to be, especially in this conference.

I'm still in his corner, but I'm rapidly losing my patience and ability or will to be an apologist. I'm not breaking any news here, but how this team responds in these remaining 4 games will speak volumes about the viability and future of Bert and his staff. Here's hoping they come out of the bye week with the fire of Mt. Doom and start thrashing teams.

The meltdowns that some of you are having are pathetic. We're t-goddamn-Flagship. Have some self-respect!

Some of you need the hell slapped out of you, for your own good.

I think everyone but the die hard Petrino apologists and the Bring the Gus Bus Back Home cult members know that we will have Bert for another year or two at least. And he has made some very good hires among the coaching staff.

Robb Smith does a pretty good job against pro style offenses. Enos had a major impact and his ability to bring out the best in the Allen brothers is probably why we have won as many games as we have. Rhoads has improved our DB play quite a bit.

There have been some misses though like you said and those have put us in a really horrible spot this year and going into next year. Smith is clueless when it comes to stopping a spread/read option team and everyone but us and LSU is using that right now. Shannon and Pittman did not live up to their billing as great recruiters/developers of talent. Our ST play continues to be lackluster and now it looks like a lot of our kicking woes could have been solved if we had let the kid who can actually make FGs play at the start of the season. And our lines...

Both the O and D lines look like someone put a bunch of names in a hat, tossed them into the air while shouting "Whee", and then started them in a given position based on where they landed. We have DEs playing DT, a DT playing LG, a graduate transfer who wasn't good at his previous school, and a bunch of who the hell knows next year.

Bert needs to clean house and get after it this off season or he will come into next season on a seat that is very warm.
