I'll say this -- if Rafe isn't ready next year, which he may not be, we're fricked in '15 (t-shirt idea!).

We have have have have to bring on a true QB coach to work on Allen's mechanics and develop Peavey and Storey.

At this point, I'm just not ready anymore to peg any of our upcoming conference games this year as wins. I'm worried that Allen was utterly ruined by the second half of the ULM game and 2013 as a whole, and that there's no turning back.

The guy has ZERO confidence in the pocket. Confidence is his biggest issue hands down.

Tried going for a run....at around a mile I remembered Brandon saying he didn't come to Arkansas to hand it off on CBB's show....just pissed me off more!

Confidence is the issue. Appears so afraid to take a sack or throw another pick 6 that he can't just relax and react once the play starts.

As to not getting beaten out...the issue to knowing the offense isn't so much about executing plays as it is checking into the right plays....just takes awhile for a kid to get that.

I trust this staff and think they are getting the most they probably can from Allen. I lay our lack of a QB now at the feet of Petrinos interest in puss....not Allen's.

We need one more recruiting class and it appears it is coming...then we need 2-3 more very solid ones.

I sharply remember Petrino taking a swing at every above average QB that could throw during his last 2 seasons and he got none of them other than the Allen brothers and a now TE at cincy.

Not one decent QB would commit to Petrino. The 7A West is a mirage. For the life of of me I can't figure out why we seemed to have stopped pulling QB's out of Texas.

If you have ever met him, confidence is not an issue

he thinks he can make every play. just look at all his stupidass scrambles instead of just throwing it away last night. JFF he is not, yet only one of those was thrown away. Several were thrown up for grabs and Landon Collins grabbed the last one

I'd argue that none of the QBs Petrino recruited with the exception of Wilson panned out, as Mallett was a stroke of luck due to Rich Rod being hired. There's a string of guys like Youngblood, Mitchell, Walker, and the Allens who either didn't play out there eligibility here or haven't panned out.

Outside of D-line, Petrino was a horrendous evaluator of talent.

His scrambles have saved multiple plays for us this season, and it is probably the most surprising part of his improvement this season.

I've defended Allen multiple times this season and last, but this loss (along with the missed interception that led to the TD, the fumble through the end zone, etc.) falls a lot on his shoulders. It wasn't the play calling, because we weren't getting the blocks up front to run the ball and Bama's run defense was legit. It was simply missing opportunities and Allen failing to make the plays when he needed to make them. He is much better than he was last season, but last night reminded me of the earlier games last season when he would get rattled. We simply can not have that from him if we expect to beat good teams.

Allen may have missed a couple of plays last night but for the most part there was just nothing open.

One thing that I do know is that we are nowhere near as good of a passing team when we go in to "traditional" shotgun formations. This team is not good enough at WR to beat press coverage from Bama straight up. They need to stay in the bunch and tight formations where we can take advantage of the pics those formations provide. I absolutely hate when we abandon that part of our gameplan in obvious passing situations.

THIS.. and for the record, the morons on twitter last night berating BA threatening to beat him up, telling him to leave AR immediately, pure trash!

We have one as a "TE coach".

He has previous FBS OC experience as well.

I've been railing on that for months. Chaney was a OL/TE coach for most of his career and Lunney tutored QB's and ran Bentonville's offense where they won state titles before becoming a giant school where vendors sent their kids.

Lunney was a QB coach at Tulsa then SJSU (or SDSU, I get them confused) as a QB coach and OC.

There was a stretch last night where our offense got pretty predictable. Not predicting the actual play per se but rather the type. First down run, second down play action, third down shotgun for the pass. I'm still on the Chaney can get it done boat but I would like to see him run the ball occasionally from Shotgun.

BA tips run plays all the time, he leaves his mouthguard on his helmet out of the huddle.

Never does this on pass plays...

BA has now been in the league 4 years and he is currently the #2 QB on the Broncos. Who would have thought that was possible in 2014?

Dan Enos can come back and be OC/QB coach any time he wants imo.
