Apparently Jeff Long has moved back to NWA.

Ironically I learned just this morning that Jeff Long has moved back to NWA and is buying a home. This could get interesting.

It all makes sense now. I didn’t don’t have a problem retaining sam if he turns over the offense to cmfbp and the game management as well.

Actually probably better than blowing 30 mill on some up and comer or has been.

My apologies to HY and the guy here that keep posting how great things are.

As an OC he's... okay. I mean there are worse choice out there. He's getting a bit long in the tooth in that area.

What I suspect is that he'd be the de facto gameday coach advising Pittman. In which case he'd be a massive upgrade.

Will that put the Razorbacks in the playoffs next year? Probably not. But we might win a few more games.

Makes the most sense especially with the admin being committed to bringing CSP back for another year. It fills in the gap were CSP to be fired/let go early if it all goes South early on (likely). You would have to have an interim anyway and you are unlikely to get an established HC during the season unless you get someone out of retirement so you let your OC fill that void. You then see if CBP can turn it around. If not then you do your coaching search and try to hire the best person you can for 2025. Nothing to lose really given the fact they committed to bringing CSP back for another season anyway.

A Petrino offense with a Pittman offensive line at one time was the stuff of legends and wet dreams

Guess we’ll see if they can get the magic back

The thought that Fisher’s ego kept him from letting Petrino have full rein of the offense is intriguing. Pittman has a better chance of letting Bobby P have his way with the offense here. So it’ll likely be the first time he’s truly been able to focus on just the offense since 2002 when he was OC at Auburn.

Nobody knows if this is true or not. I assume Pittman will let him have full control so he keeps getting a check.

I remember the Hatfield years, but I never really got excited about that three yards and a cloud of dust style.

Petrino is the coach in my "lifetime" who was the most exciting and who I thought gave us the best chance to win no matter who we were playing.

This may end up not going well. In fact, history may tell us it won't.

But, I'm all for it.

If nothing else, IF NOTHING ELSE, there won't be an O-lineman wanting to come off the field to face Petrino if they just let someone through untouched to sack the quarterback.

It's the excuse as to why their offense sucked this year, would have merit if the offense didn't get worse after Jimbo was fired (which it did).

Same as in 2006 when Arkansas lost all the games to finish the year, it wasn't poor planning and play calling but Gus it was Nutt handcuffed Gus to flat out took the offense back over from Gus. Fast forward a couple years to the Gus offense being used freely and as intended at OM by Nutt, ignore Gus crashing and burning at allbarn due to his offense.

What happens when we win 9 games next year then Sam retires bc he wants to go out on a high note. But Petrino can’t be made HC because of the clause saying he was fired with cause lol

Pretty sure he wouldn't be eligible for offensive coordinator if the "fired for clause" stuff had any real legs.

The hire has to signed off on and a waiver granted.

HY messed up Sam's contract so bad, he has to go hat in hand and ask for a waiver to hire Bobby so renewals and donations don't crater.

Pittman will likely give him free rein of the offense, but you can’t help wonder how these two temperaments will work together. Sam “Aw Shucks” Pittman and Bobby ‘Inferno’ Petrino. What will coaches meetings look like?
