Derby is definitely getting noticed by NFL scouts. CFB is fairly thin on elite TEs right now and that TD against Bama and catch against Georgia are definitely attention getters.

You mean this AJ Derby? Rivals 181st best player for 2010, who had offers from Alabama, Florida, FSU, Nebraska, Michigan, Stanford, etc?

No, I'm not surprised. All those offers were for him to play LB, TE or something other then QB, which is why he ended up at Iowa. The scouting report on that page even says he could be an All-American TE. Personally, I suspect this is why Bielema really recruited him.

quote:

Brandon Allen through 4 SEC games last year: 39%, 3 TDs, 6 INTs Brandon Allen through 4 SEC games this year: 57%, 7 TDs, 4 INTs just for some perspective....

Brandon Allen through 4 SEC games last year:
0-4

Brandon Allen through 4 SEC games this year:
(with a more experience line, much improved defense and dominant running game.)
0-4 Oh...and TWO AA tight ends.

Let's not forget his total melts in 4 quarters of the two games we should have won....despite him.

Not at all, the kid is just athletic and has the football IQ to know where he can impact a game.

He's a longshot to get drafted, but the kid certainly will get a shot at the next level with his pro-day numbers and the tape. He just flashes on film everytime you watch him, whether it's sealing the edge or faking a run block and sneaking out to the flats.

I'm still hopeful we run some sort of reverse pass with him this year.

Either way, he's been one of the better surprises in the last several years. He's probably the best position switch guy we've had since Jamaal Anderson.

You trying to blame him for melt down of Skipper and the case of butter fingers Marshall and the holder developed?

Is he a world beater? No, the team as a whole has not put themselves in favorable positions late and everybody just wants to dump it all on Allen.
