We just lost a fricking baseball series to Missouri at home. Let that sink in for a bit.

Just not a good team if the bats are not hot. This team can't win if it doesn't score 7 runs.
We played 27 innings this weekend and our starting pitching lasted like 8 of those innings.
I wouldn't mind seeing Jackson, and Alberius put in starting roles. Jackson did better in long relief today than anything Taco has done in a month.

15th in the country might be a little optimistic at this point.

If Arkansas is ranked this week, they're simply ranked because of that weekend in Houston.
Outside of that weekend, we haven't looked very good against decent competition.

You can tell it's pretty bad when scroggins, who hasn't pitched all year, comes in and looks like one of the better pitchers on our staff immediately lol

We may legitimately get swept by LSU, A&M, and Florida. Winning just a single game in those series would be an accomplishment.
Our postseason streak really could be in danger if the pitching stays as is, I can't look at our schedule and honestly pick out any remaining series and think we'll win it.
I said this earlier in the season and I'll repeat it, the 2015 recruiting class was maybe the worst time for DVH to take a year off from recruiting. Idk wtf happened, but it has killed us this year so so so much. We desperately need 1 or 2 freshmen to step up on the mound, and we almost always have at least a few big time recruits and can get 1 or 2 of them to step up, but this past class, nope.
DVH has brought in yearly Top 10, Top 5, and even his lower classes stay in the Top 25.
Class rankings by year (see if you can spot the anomaly)
2013: #10
2014: #2
2015: #56
2016: #4

If we can't get a starter to the 5th inning against the worst team in the conference we aren't making the postseason

I dunno about LSU. They have struggled as have we. They were on the ropes against AU this past weekend and haven't looked great.
aTm and UF are possible sweeps against us.
Like I said...If I were DVH I would give Jackson and Alberius shots at starting and see if Taco and McKinney can do better coming out of the pen. At this point though with Taco, it is really hard to trust he can even get you an inning right now.
Yea, our post season streak is very much in jeopardy. The thing with the freshman, is they seem to be good on their first round through the opposing order. Once they get through it once, they're toast in about the 3rd or 4th inning. Its happened with Loseke and the kid that pitched at Oklahoma State, Wright I think.

Only thing with these rankings, if I'm remembering correctly, is IMO we are getting the same production out of the #56 ranked class are we are the #2. Outside of Nomura and maybe Pennell (except he's not putting up SEC numbers at the plate for a catcher), I don't see much productivity from Bonfield, Spanberger, Gassaway and McKinney is shaky. So yes the '15 class wasn't great but the '14 class isn't proving to be worthy of that ranking anyway.

Taccolini sucked out of the pen tonight also
Posted on 4/6/16 at 8:35 pm to ArHog
Did he? I haven't kept up with the game tonight. Saw it was 5-0 in or around the 3rd or 4th inning and figured we would truck them.

1 1/3 innings, Alberius came in to save the day
9-2 Hogs

12-4 win; 20-9
Hunter Hart was the most impressive and it sounded like Jorn changed his mechanics to sidearm. 2 innings pitched with 4 K's in facing 6 batters.

Well...I guess we will see how this goes. I have great expectations...but both of these guys have a tendency to start like shite out of the pen. So, I guess I am not expecting too much.
I would expect both to at least last longer than Taco and Mckinney lately though.

Pretty sure Ole Miss expects to sweep us. I'm hoping for one win and strong pitching performances

If we get swept we are so so toast.
We absolutely HAVE to at least get 1.
