While Smith is filling out the defensive backfield, linebackers, and defense line with recruits from his assigned recruiting territory, it would be nice if he had a little quid pro quo from other members of the staff.
Maybe Reed or Stewart will fit that bill, I don't know.
CBB knew coming in that he had to try to erase the stigma of his offenses not being perceived as receiver friendly.
I don't know much about Smith as a position coach to give an opinion yea or nay, maybe you or others on here do, but I don't think it's reasonable to knock him for his recruiting performance and certainly not if he gets Guidry to sign.

I get what you're saying. We've certainly done better in Louisiana than in the past. Maybe Smith works out for us and he's around here for awhile.
But again, like razorhawg said, lets not act like he tore it up on the recruiting trail last year. Sure we probably pulled kj's offer so he gets a pass on him. But other than kj, he gets no passes. Plus he shouldn't get all the credit for the Louisiana hogs, other coaches and factors helped. There's a reason he was the only coach that didn't get an extension and his name has been linked to multiple job openings.

Didn't take long for the obligatory 'in any other year' LSU comment on the recruiting board thread.
But at least that's a bit more respect than the 'didn't have a committable offer.'

Update on LB Jordan Carmouche from a Baylor writer:
• Three-star linebacker Jordan Carmouche (Manvel) expected to see the Arkansas coaching staff come by on Wednesday afternoon. For now, Carmouche says that the Razorbacks are on him the hardest and have made him a priority in the 2016 class. Carmouche also says that he stays in frequent contact with the Baylor staff and the Bears still sit in a favorable position with him.

Oklahoma State took a QB commit yesterday. They were the other school in Cole Kelley's top two. Kelley is visiting the Hogs this weekend and could be our nex commit after he leaves. He has said numerous times that he wants to commit somewhere very soon.

Suga started a thread on the LSU recruiting board about Cole Kelley and one of the posters over there posted this about him:
I'm good friends with the dad of the qb for stm (Bellamy. For the Arkansas fans STM is another local high school and also the rival to the high school Cole goes to). They are very best friends, both families have been close friends for years. I had a drink with him on the Sunday of the Masters and in conversations with him he said and i'm paraphrasing.
Right now Cole is all Arkansas, they were the first school to really heat up on him, he likes the coaches and the style of offense they play (biggest factor for him). Leaving home is not a problem and living away is not a problem, he actually wouldn't mind it. As for LSU he really didn't have much to say in terms of his knowledge with how much Cole interacts with them and how interested he is with going to school there etc. just tifwiw.

I have a few thoughts on Devin White. Why not offer the kid to play both ways here? His full time role would be at LB and he could get 5 to 8 carries during a game especially in the red zone?

Watched some of his hudl vids. He actually almost reminds me a little of Matt Jones. I wasn't expecting to see him run so much.
