I definitely force myself, I guess it's a sunk-cost fallacy. Especially in years that we get shitty home slates, I'd feel a lot better about my TidePride contributions if I got a solid away game given to me.

LSU does it the right way. They play neutral site games, but they also play cool home and homes

Neutral Games
2011 - Oregon (Dallas)
2013 - TCU (Dallas)
2014 - Wisconsin (Houston)
2016 - Wisconsin (Green Bay)
2017 - BYU (Houston)
2018 - Miami (Dallas)

Home and Homes
2003 - @ Arizona
2004 - @ Virginia Tech
2005 - @ Arizona State
2006 - vs Arizona
2007 - vs Virginia Tech
2009 - @ Washington
2010 - vs West Virginia
2011 - @ West Virginia
2012 - vs Washington
2015 - @ Syracuse
2017 - Syracuse
2019 - @ Texas
2020 - Texas
2021 - @ UCLA
2024 - vs UCLA
2026 - @ Arizona State
2027 - @ Oklahoma
2028 - vs Oklahoma
2029 - vs Arizona State

No, but I'm forced to make contributions and only get 3 OOC home games every year that are ALL pure dog shite, and NEVER getting a unique 4th home game against a good OOC team. And the 4th game is a $150-200 ticket at a neutral site.

It's fine 2 out of every 3 years or every other year, but doing it every year is just bullshite, plain and simple.

This proves Alabama doesn't care about what the fans want, they care about the money. It's the sad truth. We pay for season tickets and the best game may be Texas A&M like last year. Would've been better if we had played USC (or some other team) at home and then travelled to play at their place this year. Oh well. Money talks.

The fourth game will be a FCS team probably. Why are we playing Duke in Atlanta? There is zero benefit to playing Duke. Do we just signup for the Chick Fil A game, and they match us with an opponent?

Agree. if we can't get a BKB game with them, why should we give their FB program access to our FB brand?

I think we are working on different definitions of the word "forced." The bottom line is the product and the demand allows the AD to get away with whatever they want at this point. It sucks, but nobody is mandated to pay.

I am wondering how many P5 teams really want to play Bama right now let alone two years in a row. Given the way Bama and Saban are rolling right now, you can pretty much pencil in a loss. Why else would we end up scheduling Duke?

Not trying to be too much of a homer, but playing Bama right now is likely to give you an "L" on your record and I think a lot of coaches and AD's don't want to sign up.

Not only an L but a possible soul crushing L depending on how you come out the first game. Just look at Southern Cal last year. Or Michigan in 2012.

We just come out like gangbusters in those games and other teams generally do not, especially teams with less talent.

I would never schedule an opening game against us. It's suicide.

Exactly. We sit around and wonder why we can't get a home and home with some traditional power but those teams are trying to win their conference titles and maybe have a shot at the playoffs. Opening against Bama is pretty much guaranteed to derail your season.

Saban has never been one to shy away from taking on big games. I have to think other teams aren't willing to sign up right now for a regular season match-up....it's not for a lack of trying by our AD.

I'll let Greg Byrne get settled into the job, before I worry too much. Games through 2020 are on Battle.

What happened to our home/home with Michigan State? Why did we cancel that? Although a trip to East Lansing, MI is on no-one's bucket list.

...and I thought we were going to play Georgia Tech again?

I think Saban tells them where he wants to play and how he wants things to work. And he wants to play in Dallas/Orlando/Atlanta for "recruiting" and to get experience in those buildings for Playoffs/SECCG/National Title games.

I NEVER want to see Western Carolina and UT Chattanooga on the football schedule again. Would rather see Bama play a high school team then those two teams again.

Be shocked if it isn't an FCS team...who else could we get to play a game so late in the season (the week before Auburn)?

Bama has cancelled multiple scheduled home and homes during the Saban era. They were supposed to do one with traditional rival Georgia Tech in 19 and 20, but backed out on it last year. They were probably unable to get out of the 10 and 11 ones with Penn State, because they were originally scheduled for 02 and 03 but PSU generously agreed to postpone them when Bama got blasted for the Means scandal. I suspect Moore recognized that backing out in those circumstances would've been pretty shitty and stuck with it, probably to Saban's chagrin.

It's pretty obvious that Saban is opposed to home and homes for some reason. But as I always say, it's a small price to pay for having him. I just won't be attending any neutral site openers at any point, and I'll be very frustrated if there's complaining about a poor fan turnout for the opener against Duke.

Exactly. Greg Byrne and Bill Battle have/had no say. Saban runs everything football. Byrne bends the knee to Saban.
