What about Warren Ruggiero, Wake Forest OC?

His Wake Forest offenses have been consistently good (borderline great considering its Wake Forest). Sometimes his "slow mesh" RPO variation scares you because it seems so slow developing and it definitely puts a lot of faith in the right QB to run it. Sam Hartman has been brilliant with it. But it also puts a ton of pressure on the defense.

That would be intriguing to me. I think Ty Simpson could be successful with it. Not sure about Milroe unless his accuracy improves a ton (but that's pretty much with whatever offensive scheme the new OC runs).

That'd be a good hire, but considering he has been at Wake for nearly a decade, has had a ton of success, and is still at Wake I'd say there's a good chance he doesn't have much interest in a high stress job.

Anybody know what Chip Long is doing at the moment? I know we were interested in him before we hired Sark again.

Kingsbury is neck deep in instagram models in Thailand and you think he’s coming to Tuscaloosa to get yelled at by Saban and recruit HS kids?

Until he runs out of models, money or both he doesn’t belong on the list.

Add AJ Milwee to the list and I’m good with any of those.

I hate we missed the opportunity to at least make a strong run at Riley.

Brian Johnson out of these names I guess? It might be someone out of the blue, Daboll-esque

Yesterday Aaron Suttles on Bama and Bourbon said Saban had a secret meeting with an offensive guy last week. He wouldn’t say the name of the person but did say the person would absolutely take the OC job if offered and that bama fans probably wouldn’t love the hire. Read into that what you will.

It’s at the 13:40 mark

Which sounds like a former NFL coach.

Perhaps we did make a run at him, if we wanted to. There's no telling what's already gone on behind the scenes.

This seems to be getting thrown around a lot.

Off the top of my head, NFL guys that are currently available AND have some kind of tie to Saban...

Jason Garrett
Scott Linehan
Mike Mularkey
Pat Shurmer
Adam Gase - HELL NO
Freddie Kitchens

No ties to Saban, but ties to The University...

Bruce Arians - PIPE DREAM

No ties at all… Belichick Assistants (BOB/Daboll route)

Matt Patricia

I'm probably missing a few.

Could easily handle play calling duties and be a QB whisperer.

They're "available" because they've all been unemployed for at least a year.

Really though if it's anyone from this list I may just skip 2023 because if Saban hires any of these dudes he just does not give a frick anymore.

Yeah… definitely not endorsing anybody, just brainstorming. Pretty underwhelming options as a whole, but that’s what you get with “former NFL” guys. If they were good, they would still have a job somewhere.

I hope we go for more of an “unknown” if we don’t get one of the premier names on that list. There should be plenty of OCs with good schemes around the country that aren’t getting noticed right now.
