The Alabama men’s and women’s basketball teams will officially welcome in the 2015-16 campaign on Tuesday night when they host the Tide Tipoff at Coleman Coliseum. The event, specifically for UA students, season ticketholders of all sports and Alabama faculty and staff, will be highlighted with a performance from the hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd at the end of the night.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. CT with a 45-minute autograph session featuring both teams and coaches on the concourse of the coliseum.

Beginning at 7 p.m., the teams will then participate in a variety of on-court activities including team introductions, a skills competition and a three-point shootout. New to the list of activities is a dunk contest with celebrity judges as well as a half-court shot for a fan to win a great prize.

quote:

Admission to the event is free for students as well as season ticketholders for men's and women's basketball, football, volleyball, gymnastics, baseball and softball and UA faculty and staff. Season ticketholders and faculty and staff can print up to 10 tickets from an e-mail sent by UA. Hard tickets can also be picked up on the day of the event inside Coleman Coliseum for season ticket holders or faculty and staff members of record only. UA students, admitted one per student ID, will swipe their Action Card similar to a regular men's basketball game at the west entrance of Coleman Coliseum tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

Seating at the event will be first come, first serve with general admission seating. UA students will have their first opportunity to sit in the newly designated student section along with special seating on the floor for this event.

Hopefully we have a good showing and Avery sees that the student body and fans are behind him and the program 100%.

Give me some predictions on who you think will win the skills competition, 3 point shootout and the dunk contest...

Let's see, I'll go with:

Skills - Coleman (hard to pick against Retin here though)

3 Point - Hale or Riley...ill go Hale (Maybe Shaffer?)

Dunk - no clue here, maybe Donta Hall?

It will be great to at least get a glimpse of the team. Excited about basketball again.

Is Shaffer that white kid from Cullman with the crazy hair? I can't remember his name. I could see him being a 3 pt sniper.

Yeah, that's him. I think he was at 40% his senior season at Cullman.

I wish we could have had a dunk contest ~5 years ago when we had Green, Hillman, Gee, and Mitchell.

Hillman and Mitchell especially.

That would've been a hell of a show.

Green maybe not so much, but Gee could fly with the best of them.

Dumb question: What's the flyer all about? Are those dudes performing or something?

I hope there's a good turn out. Weather in T-Town has just been depressing, fall break lets out tomorrow and it's Tuesday night, most of the on campus clubs and ministries have their meetings that night.

Any word on past players that might show up? I think it would be great if the Grant era guys came to this.

Releford, Levi, Cooper etc.

Would absolutely love for Kennedy Winston, Earnest Shelton, Chuck Davis, Richard Hendrix and the Steele boys to come.

What's Rod Grizzard up to these days?

Levi will be there. He doesn't report to the D league for a few more weeks. He was practicing when I went there earlier. Winston, Hendrix, and Davis are all overseas I think. Both Steele brothers are at John Carroll I think so they could definitely come. Grizzard, my favorite player of all time, is somewhere in Alabama but not sure which city.

This was the longest student line I've had to wait in besides maybe the Kentucky game. It was wrapped all the way to the front of the coliseum.
