Woolly use to be the best free recruiting site. Tidal Surge created and modeled it after Volnations and it was really well maintained by him mostly and to a less affect CC, Bam, and myself. It had the invidiual recruiting profile threads so the info could be better grouped and i added a General thread for info that didnt fit into the former. Was a great system. But things change fast on the internet and even though we were categorizing the info very well others were getting it faster from the primary source which basically meant our board was less and less important. People want the newest info right away so even if your board is getting it 10 minutes later, people will go elsewhere.

Tide Sprots (<--correct spelling) was a lot of fun, but it was overly moderated, and overly merged. lol

The core group that wanted to have a little more fun than allowed on TS were the original core of Wollyal which was established when TS went premium.

There has never been a better Bama forum than the first few years at Woolly.

We had some very insightful/serious posters, and we had some epic trolls. Thin skinned types would get mauled and processed within a week.

Most fighting was for sport, and most understood that. You could definitely get away with "personal attacks" especially if they were funny and/or true.

No one was exempt from being called out. Even the owner/mods could find themselves in someones crosshairs on any given day.

That may sound like a shite show (which some days certainly were) but if you could roll with it, it was a lot of fun.

Good times were had by most.

I miss a lot of posters from those days. We are scattered all across the various Bama forums now, but it was a lot more fun when we all posted on the same board.

Some are here. Some have changed their names, and are lost forever in a way. I was T&B at Woolly, but that username was not allowed here.

There was a Wide range of forums that were active on a daily basis.

Our recruiting forum was amazing. We were bringing so much premium info to that board that it had to be hidden from the public eye. I think you had to have 250 post, and know the secret handshake just to get in.


HighTide25, CrimsonChris, BamainHouston (which is BlackPawnMartyr here), SnoutSpout, BigBam, Myself, TideStalker, and several others made big time contributions to the recruiting forum over the years. It was likely the best recruiting info board relative to Bama news on the innerweb at one time.

Edit* Damn I forgot to mention the man that did all the merging at TS, and actually started the recruiting board.

It was waning before AHM21 back stabbed the entire site, so probably mostly not enough new blood signing up. It probably seemed to cliquish with all the inside jokes and commadery which may have made it difficult for new people.
