Yep. Refs are paying attention. They have caught up too. I was at BDS for the LSU game. Bama had 18-19 defensive players on the field before each LSU possession. When the Tigers offense came out, 7-8 Bama players ran off immediately. Bama has a package for everything and they have learned how to speed sub. Kirby Smart, NS, Mel Tucker and staff have done a fantastic job this year. Ragland needs some serious props too. Outstanding leader. Cyrus Jones is another.

I like the evolution of Saban's defense and its not done evolving. I think we could see Saban around for a few more years because he has caught up with the HUNH and will reign terror with the perfect blend of speed and power.

He's better than Clowney. I may get flamed for that but the dude is flat unblockable.

No flame, but you do realize he is pretty fresh while the OL has been playing all game. And as far as Clowney comparison, again.......he gets the benefit of not having to take on blockers like other starters do, so he's a lot fresher then guys like Clowney would be who are in the entire game.

I say that not to take away from what he does, because I agree, he is amazing, but right now he is a specialist, and a damn good one.........but not yet a complete player.

Ryan Anderson ain't bad either. Bama really needs 4 players to come back next year. Reuben, T. Williams, Ryan Anderson, and Dalvin. It is possible to lose all 4. Especially if they do well in the next two games.

I really don't think Dalvin will seriously consider going especially since he will be starting next season while he hasn't done as much as the others this season. The others all will seriously consider it. The LBer corp next year could be Willaims, Anderson, Foster, Evans, and SDH. Pretty good group right there.

Darn right that is a good group! If all 4 guys come back, I feel real, real good about next year. Think we may lose Foster and Williams. If Williams lays out Mayfield a couple times on primetime, his stock will go up. Foster has all the tools to be an all pro and some team may want to pay him several million while he learns. He makes first round money next year so he may want to stay and take out a policy. (Like Ragland). I don't know what his grades. Sometimes that plays a big role. Doesn't strike me as an honor student. OJ Howard is another unknown on offense. Can't believe he has been so quiet. (He is being used more in protection on passing downs). Hope he has a breakout playoff run.

he's up to 260 pounds

He still looks like he did at 225. If he is at 260, with his speed, he might be a late first rounder. He is a jack for us, but he is almost a prototypical DE in a 4-3, especially with his height and frame. He might need 15 more lbs, but that wouldn't stop a team from taking him where they want too.

Also, a 4-3 isn't as complicated of a defense. He would probably have an easier time learning the system, and therefore, be on the a field a lot earlier and more often .

If Tim does go, it would make a good recruiting pitch for Saban.

Recruit: "Coach, other teams are saying if I come to Bama I might not get to start right away."

Saban: "Son, our second string guys are leaving early and going in the first round."

That would make a good trivia question. Who was the last non starter to be drafted in the first round? And technically, Williams is 3rd string behind Duval and Anderson. This defense is loaded. Hope they play to the capability in three weeks.

did you ever even watch clowney play. I doubt anyone could be fresher than clowney, since he only ever actually played the snaps he wanted to. He was one of the laziest players I've ever seen. Williams plays balls out every play

I'm interested to see if christian miller has made enough strength and conditioning progress to contribute. His highschool carrer was insane, one of the best pass rushers since clowney.

Hand and Evans are the two I'm most wanting to see take a step forward next year. You see flashes from Hand when he's in there. He's just had trouble getting in the rotation consistently. Should have a great opportunity next year to start I'd think. With DD gone, Evans should move up at least a spot, but he's still got a lot of competition with Anderson and Williams in there ahead of him. Maybe he can become a more complete OLB versus just a pass-rushing specialist?
