I didn't really think much of it before, but I think we missed Kiffin in that game. Not necessarily for his playcalling, but his presence - his energy. Kiffin has a powerful presence on the sidelines, and I think that would've made a difference.
I think we'll be fine with Sark moving forward, but I think we really took for granted having somebody of that caliber on the sidelines during the games. He was like having a 2nd head coach.
Bad move by Saban imo

Kiffin with 100% of his attention would have been better. I'm not sure that Kiffin with 50% of his attention would have been.

Sark did about as poorly against Clemson as Kiffin did against Washington, except maybe worse.
Kiffin wanted to be there, and it was a mistake to kick him out with one game left, just because he was taking phone calls at night. Kiffin's heart was in it

I think we have to assume Saban knew the situation better than we did.

Saban must've considered Kiffin a growing cancer so detrimental to the team that replacing him 8 days before the title game with an inept alcoholic was preferable to keeping him around. He knows the situation and I'm confident he made the right choice.

I still think that had Kiffin stayed he would have been laser focused on the game. Yeah we probably would've struggled but Lane would've given it his all since it was his last game anyway.

I think Saban just saw Kiffin's extracurricular activities as clutter, and shut him out.
If Kiffin wanted to do it, which he did, he should've been allowed to do it. Period.

Problem is getting rid of Kiffin a week before the game creates even more "clutter"

Playcalling was fine.

Dropped passes. Overthrows. Missed blocks. Penalties.

That's how the offense could've improved. Still scored 31 points and didn't lack any creativity getting there.

Some of y'all are being ridiculous.

Nah, Bama did score 31 offensive points against a better Clemson team. 24 against Washington with one of those being a defensive TD.

Sark got thrown in with the sharks and he called a solid game. 0-9 on third downs in the second half killed Bama though. Ya gotta think Bo gets at least one of those though so his injury did suck. But whatever. It was just Clemson's night.

31 against a defense that just shutout OSU. It definitely could've been better but it was almost enough to finish the job.

of all the things that can be nitpicked about this game, there are 2 that drive me nuts.

how many tackles, behind the line of scrimmage, did bamas defense miss!

do we seriously not have a single 5* dude that can stay with that little white guy

i believe if our defense takes care of these two areas, this game would have been in the bag, fairly easy. but alas, that whole hindsight 20/20 thing comes into play.

all of this, and much more. yet we were one second away, one freaking second

The problem was execution guys. Stop looking for excuses. We hadn't fixed our problems and finally played a team good enough to capitalize on them.

End of story.

I thought Sark called a decent game. The only complaint I had was he kept trying to go fast at times when all we needed to do was run some clock. If he slows it down just 2-3 times where he tried to go fast, Clemson doesn't have a full 2 minutes to drive the field at the end of the game

During the gap between the SECG and the Washington game, Kiffin would go MIA for several days. Not to be found. He would show up for mandatory meetings, that's it. No extra planning, effort, etc.

I think it was fairly obvious Kiffin had checked out and didn't want to be there. Saban finally told him to frick off.
