I dropped in and checked out genro's AJC thread...hilariously ironic. The rantards are laughing about the 'opinion' of a writer that's paid to have one. Just because it rebuts what they hope will happen.

Yea that's generally how they work over there. They were high fiving over a tweet from a TCU beat writer (so much so that beaver ran to the SECr and told everyone to rush to the CC board now!) but they laugh at any link to anyone saying anything opposite of what they want to hear.

It's comical.

That's funny, he follows me around and does the same thing only with me he posts shite about the other site we had going for a while.

VermillionDickSucker has joined in on that fun too.

I've never seen Mr. Thang post anything of substance nor a sentence longer than a handful of words.

Is he employed as the TD idiot jester? I can't quite figure out his role around here.

After further investigation it was deleted because of a poor and misleading thread title. The thread should have been anchored.

The admin in question has been disciplined.

I think it is time for Literally Police to retire his or her shtick, considering that the "incorrect" usage of literally is now an accepted "correct" use of the word.

[link=(Meriam-Webster)]https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/literally[/link]:
quote:

Definition of LITERALLY

1: in a literal sense or manner : actually "took the remark literally" "was literally insane"

2: in effect : virtually "will literally turn the world upside down to combat cruelty or injustice — Norman Cousins"

Usage Discussion of LITERALLY

Since some people take sense 2 to be the opposite of sense 1, it has been frequently criticized as a misuse. Instead, the use is pure hyperbole intended to gain emphasis, but it often appears in contexts where no additional emphasis is necessary.

[link=(Cambridge)]https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/british/literally?q=literally[/link]:
quote:

literally adverb /'l?t.?r.?l.i/ /-r?.li/ US /'l?t?.?.?l.i/
B2 having the real or original meaning of a word or phrase:
They were responsible for literally millions of deaths.
We live literally just round the corner from her.
You'll lose marks if you translate too literally (= one word at a time).
› informal used to emphasize what you are saying:
He missed that kick literally by miles.
I was literally bowled over by the news.
› informal simply or just:
Then you literally cut the sausage down the middle.

[link=(Oxford English)]https://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/literally?q=literally[/link]:
quote:

literally
adverb
in a literal manner or sense; exactly:
the driver took it literally when asked to go straight over the roundabout
tiramisu, literally translated ‘pull-me-up’
informal| used for emphasis while not being literally true:
I have received literally thousands of letters

These changes were incorporated in August of this year, I believe.

Hell. No.

Literally does not mean figuratively. Figuratively has its own definition and it is literally not willing to share with anyone.

But seriously, the stuff you just posted makes me want to kick a puppy. It's like Common Core for dictionaries.

Admittedly it is the lowest common denominator dragging everyone else down to its level, but I think the battle has been lost. Literally now literally means figuratively.

I'm jumping on this fricking train and riding it the whole fricking way around. If it's posted by a Bama fan, and it seems to not even matter if it falls in line with the agenda here lately, it gets whacked. My post count has risen considerably on that board, but when you look at my post history there seems to be a lot of fricking gaps.
