Ole Miss is good but this is a game that we should win. Period.

It's the timing of the game as well. If we were playing them in a month, I'd have no doubts that we would beat them. It wouldn't be close.

Right now, our QB is still trying to figure his shite out, our oline still needs to gel, our secondary needs more experience, and our kicker needs to be cured of his foot AIDS.

An anomaly that's been going on for like ten games? Sorry, but the kid is terrible. We'd better hope we never have a game that comes down to a field goal, regardless of distance.

I think the defense and running game is good enough to carry this team to a very good season. Don't know if you noticed: there were three or four ranked SEC teams who would be doing backflips if they'd beaten their cupcake by 27.

Is this just based on the fact that we've dominated them historically? Because that literally has no impact whatsoever on what will happen on Saturday. Remember going into the national title against Texas in 2009? Analysts pointed out that Bama had never beaten Texas. Bama had only beaten Notre Dame once I think going into 2012. I'm incredibly interested in college football history. But it doesn't impact what will happen on Saturday.

We have better players. We have better coaches. The game is at home. We have played better competition. The guys will want revenge for last year. I like our chances, a lot.

I know we like to look fondly back on GMac as if all he had to do was handoff, but he actually had to step up and win a few games for us, including the SECCG.

Anyone who's worried about Ole Miss should turn in their fan card. It's fricking Ole Miss. We're not losing to them two years in a row.

Yeah, no reason whatsoever to be concerned about playing a team that beat us last year.

Bama playing Ole Miss at home is going to be a huge factor in addition to the sour taste of last year's defeat.
My concern is Drake. Will he try to play to hard or will he play cautiously knowing what happened to him last year.
Also, what about the OM player trying to kick Drake while he was down? I think that may still be fresh in the minds of the defense and maybe they're looking to be a little more "aggressive".

Listen man, this team has some weak spots and Ole Miss can exploit them. Will Bama lose? Its a possibilities. Most fans are just concerned with what they saw from Bama and what they have seen from Ole Miss. If Kiff gives it to Henry 20-30 times then I think we will be ok, but we know he isn't doing that. He is going to force a passing game when there isn't a need for one.

I could certainly see us losing. I just don't get why people are so concerned with what they saw against MTSU. We've played flat against teams we should've destroyed before. It shouldn't completely erase what they did against what may be an 11-1 Wisconsin team with a legit defense.

And if there are any concerns with the defense, well:

MTSU had 2.77 yards per carry. I felt early they were getting some good runs, but the stats show they only had a couple of barely decent runs. Plus we didn't get any sacks to skew the numbers.

Their QB had 4.4 YPA. That's terrible. Plus the only TD he had came after a near pick six and was against the backups. On the year opposing passing games are completing a higher % of passes than they normally do against us, sure. 59.8% compared to what we normally hold them to. But it's the dink and dunk stuff. I'd say it is a concern that we're not getting out there to stop them quicker. I haven't watched the games back again, but I feel like normally it's when we're dropping in zone. Tough to stop the short catches when you're starting the play in reverse.

Also, we're currently giving up less YPA on the season than the 09 and 2012 defenses.

So basically what I'm saying is let's delay the melt until maybe after the Georgia game. Unless we were to lose big to Ole Miss. In which case we should definitely melt.

Are you kidding? Drake is going to play like his hair is on fire, even more so than he's played the first two games.

I'm honestly predicting Drake to have around 200 all purpose yards.

He's averaging 177.5 all purpose yards a game right now, so you may be right.

To many people in here in panic mode. We shut a team down that put up 70 the week before in their win. We still won the game by 27 points. When the offense failed to put up points our D did what it needed and shut down the other team just past NC teams under Saban. The only real concern I saw on Saturday was with D Jackson. R Nkemdiche is going to have a field day on that side of the field.

In the end I will go with the odds. Saban is what 16 or 17-1 in revenge games facing a team he lost to the year prior.

This is what I'm expecting and hopefully everyone else will match his fire.

Someone posted this on BOL, thought it was interesting. I'm in the Minority as far as the Ole Miss game goes. I think we win by at least 10

quote:

We always play one of those "weaker" teams at the beginning of the schedule, week 1-4. Lets see how we did -

2009 - FIU, it was 20-14 at halftime - "The focus in games like this is to improve," Tide coach Nick Saban said. We won 41-14 in the end.
2010 - We look average versus San Jose St, and it was the first game of the year. We played Duke week 3, and we blew them out. We then played 3 straight ranked teams, and showed up in South Carolina completely drained.
2011- Trent had 13 carries for 35 yards versus Kent State
2012 - Western Kentucky - 35-0, looked average and we complained that the Offensive Line was terrible, and that Fluker was the problem. They had 6 sacks on an offensive line that some call the greatest of all time
2013 - Colorado St - 31-6, and we only had 66 yards rushing. Next week versus Ole Miss we had 254 yards rushing.
2014 - We had to play 100% because we were not use to the offense, and so many things changed after we had Kiffin start calling the plays from the sideline. However we played a terrible FIU team, and we had no one carry the ball more than 7 times.

In almost every year we have this game were we play what i call a "Saban game". One where you do no motions, no shifts, you make your RT have to pass block 1 on 1 and learn from his mistakes. You dont blitz much at all, and everything looks like a scrimmage. All about technique, and working on understanding what you need to work on as a player.

Greg McElroy said this morning - What they did was simply have a few plays that they went over throughout the week, they have base formations that they are ran out of, and they almost never have an shifts or motions in them. Next week it might be the same plays, but it will look way different, maybe Drake will start at WR and run across the formation instead this time. It was simple vanilla plays but they worked on the things they needed to work on for this coming week.

Exactly. Whoever said that is spot on. I've been trying to say basically the same thing and I was starting to think no one else realized it. That guy

I agree. I think our O was simple and the same with our defensive schemes. We were not going to give to much away before Ole Miss.

To be honest I am more worried about games at UGA and aTm(mainly the timing coming off the prior two weeks) than I am about Ole Miss.

We also learned so far this season that UT nor Ark are there yet and that AU was overblown coming into the season. MSU & LSU neither appear to be better than UA if our team comes to play.
