Was really hoping BB8 had matured beyond the gunslinger, throw a bunch of picks mode most freshmen come in with. 3 picks in limited action is not a positive sign.

Bateman is the guy to beat, knows the offense, is athletic and protects the ball decently.

Cornwell is the darkhorse. BB8 may need another year to mature...even AJ didn't start until his RS sophomore year.

History is on Batemans side. Saban always goes with the backup of the predecessor.

What's with Kiffin being late for team events? Apparently he got locked out of the stadium today.

I'm happy to see some are overreacting to rumors out of the first scrimmage of the spring. I expected nothing less

Al.com on Scrimmage:

quote:

Saturday was the latest opportunity for young offensive linemen to make a play for a major role as Nick Saban experiments and mixes and matches players this spring. Alabama is down three of its offensive line starters from last season -- Cam Robinson (injury), Ryan Kelly (graduation) and Dominick Jackson (graduation) -- and is using this spring as almost an open casting call to see who will step up and take on a starter role. At least a few offensive linemen answered the challenge and played well in the first scrimmage of the spring practice slate. The first name out of Saban's mouth after the scrimmage was Lester Cotton who has earned rave reviews from fellow players all spring. "Lester Cotton has done a really good job," Saban said. "He's played at left tackle, right tackle and we've played him at guard some." With Ross Pierschbacher sliding over from left guard to center this spring, it's opened up a perfect spot for Cotton. The rising sophomore offensive lineman is known for his power -- he had 233 pancake blocks his senior high school season -- and seems primed to nab one of the vacant starting jobs.

What I've been saying all along. I think Bateman gets the job and rightfully so (if he can perform well enough in spring & fall, and become a leader for the offense)

Bateman can make some plays with his feet, don't know how strong a arm he has though. Cronwell has a rocket for a arm and is a prototypical NFL QB. Bama will need a great pass blocking OL with him, sine he isn't very mobile.

I'm really excited about Cotton...think he could be a Warmack type dominant guard we haven't had in a while. With Robison and Cotton on the left side, Piersbacher at Center, a slimmer Shank back at RG the only real question is RT. Between Baldwin, Womack, Jonah Williams, Kirven and others we have plenty of talent competing for that spot. This COULD be the best OL we have had since 2012...which would make life on our young RB's and inexperienced QB ALOT easier in 2016.

LOL are we really all making assumptions on the starting QB based off of the first scrimmage of the spring?

Did any of you pay attention to Alabama football in 2014 or 2015? Blake Sims can't play and David Cornwell is going to win the Heisman Trophy.

Dude, you're smarter than this - overreacting is the Bama fan way.

Maybe they will make Mack Truck sized holes that Harris can burst through and get his confidence up
