If Dabol doesn't drop this hybrid offensive scheme Bama currently runs would anyone welcome Jim McElwain back as OC. I remember being frustrated at times with the passing game but Bama has a QB on campus that can throw the football accurately now and that should help clear the box from being stacked unlike the McElroy years and start of AJ until the NC game when we opened it up and let him throw.

I fully recognize that Saban has endorsed this hybrid attack but I would think a good OC could reason with him that he trust like McElwain.

No thanks. Too conservative when we get a lead, I don't trust his ability to develop a QB anymore after seeing him fail to do so at Florida.

By hybrid, do you mean "wow, that last drive was great, we scored a TD! Now let's do the exact opposite the rest of the quarter!" Ugh.

I really think the problem is Saban on offense. We have seen it time after time.. Saban wants to run this hybrid offense and it’s just not working. Lane pushed back in the Auburn game and it worked. Saban was visibly pissed at him until it started working. This new system is tough for defenses to catch a read, but It’s leaving a tired defense on the field to try and win the games. Also it gives the offense no Rhythm. It’s a damn crime that our QB had as many carries as our backs combined. Harris with 6 carries? Even after running it down the barns throat the start of the second half? Take the second half of the Clemson game?? That was a different coordinator.. this is Saban man. His obsession with what gave his defense fits in the past is killing us. It has to stop, or it will be the same results each year

Because another OC carousel is exactly what we need.

Its his first dang year as not only as OC but a college OC. Lets give him at least another year to fix his mistakes before we break out the "Fire Daboll" threads(even though its too late now). I know he called head-scratchers at times this season but the need for immediate gratification around here is ridiculous. If one bad loss to a rival is all it takes for the "Fire (insert coach name)" threads to pop up then we need to do some self reflection.

Issues with Dabol will go away when we can use more than half of the playbook and doesn't have to limit the QB reads to one half of the field.

His schemes are actually pretty solid, guys get open and most of the time the mix is good (Au game aside). Things don't work well when we have the QB miss reading a receiver 10 yards open, pull the ball down and run for 2 yards, leaving us with 3rd and 8.

Small sample size, and late in games. But notice how smoothly the offense runs when Tua takes over. The whole field opens up, and we mix in more receivers. Play action also becomes a threat again.

I agree Saban needs to back off. I think part of the problem is he do ant trust his last two coordinators or three counting Sark. That's why even though he is conservative the power run game and play action passing with a guy like McElwain I thought would be effective like it used to be. Our defense is just bad this year. Levi Walk ar finally played like a walk on. We couldn't cover receivers, Brown can't do anything right. It will be worse next year because the entire s indary is gone. We also need to pay an gent or someone to tell Paymenhe got a fourth round draft pick and he needs to return. Evasive our DL is suspect at best. He is the only run stopping force in the DL. Bama has got to manage the clock better on offense which is why I prefer our old style of offense.

That's why I said if we don't get away from this hybrid offense. I didn't say fire him now but someone I assume he needs to get in Saban seat and tell him we don't have the defense to be this inefficient t in offense. Let's run the ball with the power run game and feature a back lie Damien and run Pa pass on any down not just 3rd down.

Saban should regret pushing out Lane. For all his flaws, I think that we are playing for our 4th straight SEC title and 3rd straight national title after that with Lane still calling plays.

Did you ever think, before the 2009 season, that Greg McElroy would be the SECCG MVP?

I think you're kidding yourself if you think Kiffin wasn't going somewhere as a head coach regardless.

I'm still on the fence with DaBoll. IMO, a year is quick to make a decision on but if Saban were to decide to make a change, Dan Enos at Arkansas would be my first call.

I’m not a fan of Daboll for many of the reasons mentioned but it really is tough to judge him when we have a QB that can’t do anything against defenses with a pulse.

No, but did you ever think that McElwain could be the HC for three seasons at Florida and never have a competent QB?

I like Daboll so far for the most part.

I hated McElwain and was so glad he was gone. Exactly what part of McElwains offenses did you think we so great? We ran the ball and threw screen passes to the outside constantly.

He did a little better with AJ, but not a ton better. AJ really didn't shine as a passer until we got Nuss, who obviously at times went a bit too far with the passing.

Oh, and let's not forget how good the O-Lines were back then.

No. Dabol is fine. We lost a game. It happens.

He had his moments. The game winning drive vs. USCe with Ingram in the wildcat was a thing of beauty, not to mention the fact that he carved up Urban's defense like a Thanksgiving turkey in 2009.
