Question for our board re: a scenario similar to this LSU-Florida fiasco

So we've all endured the shite show the Rant has become due to the LSU-Florida game being cancelled.
As you may or may not know, the SEC proposed a solution to reschedule the game the week of November 19th when both teams are hosting non-conference opponents.
In this proposal LSU would be breaking their contract with South Alabama and therefore lose that home game. However, the conference has said they would foot the bill ($2 million) to pay off USA and LSU would get $3 million in the form of cancellation insurance to help cover revenue losses. Florida would cancel their game with Presbyterian and the SEC would pay their cancellation fee as well.
This would allow both LSU and Florida to play their full conference schedule and alleviate the whole issue regarding who deserves to go to Atlanta in case both win out.
It appears the Florida people are all for this plan, but the LSU fans seemingly aren't willing to give up their home game due to revenue.
So now for my question. If it was our game that got cancelled due to weather would you rather play a guaranteed win game against Chattanooga for revenue or reschedule the conference game to potentially win the West?
I'd like to think our administration would choose to play the conference game and allow our team a chance to play for a championship. And don't forget the potential merchandising revenue stream from winning the conference as an added bonus.
What say you?

Conference game 100 times out of 100.

That's what I think too.
I don't understand how this is even debatable from the LSU point of view, but it is.

Dude, you are seriously obsessed with LSU.

It has nothing to do with LSU.
This is a question as to how we'd want our administration to respond if they were faced with a similar situation.
I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings.

I don't think they should even have a choice. As long as they are being reimbursed for the missed home game, then there shouldn't be an issue.
For a long time, I have wanted the SEC to have a "bye week". All the schools have the same weekend off so no one has an advantage. The bye week would also be perfect for this type of situation.

Maybe the conference should move the SEC Championship Game back a week. It would run concurrent with the Army-Navy game so it wouldn't be too late.
They could reschedule any games postponed due to weather for that open date. And it wouldn't even have to be for teams that had a shot at a division crown either.
What if the Kentucky and Mississippi State game was cancelled due to lightening or something and one of them, or each of them, were 5-6. You don't think they'd like to play the game to get bowl eligible? That's extra practice time in preparation for the following season.
The precedent is there to hold off the CFP rankings due to the committee saying they would delay their decisions if Navy would have beaten Houston last year.

I just don't understand why we don't have any set in stone solutions. There shouldn't be any stupid negotiations between butt hurt ADs.

Reschedule the conference game. It isn't even a question.
And I wouldn't be so foolish as to expect a Tennessee, for example, to move a game from Neyland to Tuscaloosa.
However, it's all irrelevant. The SEC would mandate that the game be rescheduled...as they will in this case. They will choose the date that puts the smallest burden on the conference.

Well the conference needs to grow a pair and make the decision for them.

Moving a home game to another team's stadium is ridiculous.
Back in 2006 the Saints played a "home game" at the Meadowlands after Katrina. It was fricking stupid.

You don't have set in stone solutions because different scenarios in different years would rarely be identical. For example, what if it's an undefeated Alabama-Ole Miss in week 3 one year...when there is still wiggle room in schedules...and an undefeated Alabama and Auburn the next year when the SECCG is the following week?
That's why you're paying a commissioner. After consulting with both ADs, he makes what in his mind is the best decision...just like Slive did with the LSU-Tenn game in 2005.

That's exactly what Slive did in 2005...and not one single L5U fan right now wants to admit it.

These television contracts haven't made it easy either.

This is actually a great idea, and I don't know why it couldn't be implemented. Or have a two week gap before the SECCG for the same reason.

Also a valid point.

You gotta understand this is a football program whose admin, unlike it vastly stupid fan base, knows it doesnt have a shot at the playoffs and doesnt believe in this program. They are poor. They need that cupcake money from the home game. So its easy to understand why they would make that decision while trying to deflect much of the blame to UF.

Oh I know that. They aren't beating us, A&M, Ole Miss and Arkansas.
