no no no, not liking this at all. minkah is far to valuable to get freaking knocked out on a punt catch. surely to goodness somebody on this team can fair catch a freakin punt, every time.

I mean we have tried a handful of guys and they have all struggled. Surely give them another chance or try someone else. Don't make Minkah do it

Eddie Jackson is the only guy that gotten hurt returning for us in years. It’s football, ladies. It’s not a game you can play with the fear of injury. You play to win the game. Ruggs, Diggs, and Marks can’t be trusted to field the ball. Poor special teams play and turnovers are an easy way to lose a game you shouldn’t. Minkah or Ridley should’ve been back there from the beginning.

Minkah can help us win games a lot easier when his Alabama career isn't over due to a trivial punt return.

I pretty much agree with you. I just wince at the thought of Minkah getting hurt. I wonder how Josh Jacobs would do back there?

I’ve wondered this: would our team really be worse off by just fair catching every single punt outside the 10? I mean like screw the return yards, at least there shouldn’t be many if any penalties and the returner could just focus on catching the ball.

I know it’s not realistic but the last few weeks had me wondering

Haha 5 down votes for saying we will have a new look at punt return. Lord lol.

6. And I could have told you we would have a new look back there and I haven't seen a practice in a couple years.

Barkley returns all the time. Penn State doesn't care.

I rather Minkah not. Way too valuable of a player.

If he's back there, I'll be amazed if he does anything more than fair catch the ball....Saban's smarter than that.

Everybody knows, it's Minkah. It's been hinted at for a while, but I don't know if it will happen.

Not trying to be contrarian, but I didn't know. I've kind of zoned out/gotten lost in the sauce a lot this year towards the middle-end of our last few games. Has Saban been hinting at Minkah being put back there lately?

Minkah is already on both coverage units anyway. Don't see the big deal here.

You are a sad person. Nothing better to do than not contribute and down vote.

I have no problem with Minkah back there fielding punts and returning them. We have tried 3 different guys and gotten the same results, fumbles and muffed punts. If an injury occurs, it is really just part of the game. Now if we are up 30 and the game isn't in doubt, then get those other guys some work. Shite! When it comes nut cutting time, I want to win or lose with the best 11 on the field!!!

It was brought up in a pc a while back. It's been discussed by various reporters since. And Minkah was asked about it yesterday or today. Of course his answer was, "that's up to Saban to decide."

And I really don't understand why people are afraid of playing the best players at a position that can make a HUGE difference in the game. It's football. Injuries can happen on any play. If we don't NEED him, sure, let someone else do it. But, if we're in a tight game, why would we play scared? What are we saving the good players for at that point?

I’m not a fan of this move either. Losing Eddie on punts last year maybe cost us the natty. Surely someone out of 85 dang players can catch a ball and run a few yards afterwards without muffing it.
