List the pros and cons of living in Tuscaloosa compared to Wichita.

It depends on what you prefer. If reports are true, I think the more intriguing element of the offer would be us looking to drive our recruiting budget into Kentucky's range. I can see how that would be very appealing, on top of $3 million+ a year. Here's hoping Marshall demands a new arena.

Great point. That kind of recruiting budget is an excellent selling point, and is being overlooked in most discussions about Alabama/Marshall

To me, that comment is him baiting Battle/boosters to just throw something outrageous at him. I like his honesty

For the record, I think what Grant made and what Marshall makes now is a lot. So I guess this negotiation is relative.

It's stupid how much coaches/athletes make but it's the world we live in.

For any BOL members, what are the 5 reasons Lucky gave for why we could land Marshall and the 2 reasons for why we couldn't?

1-5 $$$$$

1-2 football school and Saban being King of campus

That's my guess.

Seriously though, I'm curious to hear what they think.

Shaka is gonna scare a lot of Bama fans just because the school he is coming from. I'd love the hire though. Light years better then Crean, Howland, Prohm etc

Those would be dumb Bama fans. No clue what percentage of our fan base are Gumps, but it's not that big, they're just loud.

Besides, everyone thought we made a homerun hire with Grant. And not just Bama fans, but national basketball analysts and rival fans. Hindsight is 20/20, but at the time, Grant was a great hire.

I would love to get Shaka. I honestly want him over Marshall.

If they don't get the job done, UK will. But I'd rather the negotiations start Friday morning as opposed to Monday.

TY Brochacho

TY everyone for posting the word y'all have gotten on this

It's a strong possibility at this juncture and the price Bama will likely come with will grab his attention

Barnes' buyout just might keep UT from firing him, and I'm willing to bet the revenue stream from SEC Network AND that buyout will keep Bama's annual salary offer higher that anything Texas would offer.

Hiring Marshall would mean MAJOR changes would come about at the U of A though. Better facilities, better arena, better attendance, unlimited recruiting budget leading to better players. The SEC basketball product itself increases with this type of hire.

Offering that number to that particular coach changes the lanscape of college bball coaching salaries the same way Mal did with Saban. The similarities are endless.

GO GET 'EM BILL!!!! & Roll Tide

Texas job is going to come open, so it seems we would have to beat them out for a big name. That worries me. I still plan to be letdown by hiring Prohm.
