FYI we did experience it when O was fired.

He was fired in December. The portal was open. LSU could replace ANYONE.

The portal is closed, except that 130 DI schools get to be on an all out bidding war for our roster, AND WE CANNOT REPLACE THEM.

THAT's what needs to be fixed.

The NCAA never listened to Saban before when he was the most powerful man in the sport. In fact, they put in rules every time he found a loophole. Those pencilnecks won’t give a shite what he says now that he’s retired.

No other school or media outlet is crying for our demise either so it’s not like there are going to be any calls for overhauling the system because of what’s happening with us. Hell, bringing us down is practically how we got here.

Saban will do some things, but he’s done.

There is a certain segment of society with a “give me what’s mine” mentality. The scale has been tipped and CFB is in a death spiral. It’s only a matter of time.

I think the insistence of this mentality is due to economic pressures that didn't really start to emerge until the 1970s but has been progressing since then with every boom-bust cycle. The middle class is contracting in the United States and that is most typified by the amount of over-educated, under-employed people in this country. Any generic college degree isn't quite the ticket into middle class prosperity it once was and people's opinions about unpaid internships and student-athlete amateurism are all connected to that pressure. Younger people don't want to bargain that experience will pay off because the real world experience of others tells them "no" more than it once did.

People love to blame "the kids" but largely this is just punching down and ignoring systemic failures in this country that go unaddressed and erode the social fabric in so many ways big and small.

Word salad. These kids have no desire to gain an education. “I want what’s mine, and I want it now”. They do not understand where money comes from, how to spend it or how to create wealth. They will jump from school to school chasing the dollar and have nothing to show for it when they run out of eligibility and don’t even make an NFL squad, according to the statistics.

No fire is being lit under Sabans arse. The lack of fire under Sabans arse and being sick of the state of wht used to be college football is why he no longer has an office in the athletics facility.

Saban will now fade away. If he were truly going to be ‘around’ I don’t think we would be seeing the mass exodus. I think he was honest with the players and they are leaving. I don’t think he is concerned about Alabamas roster going forward. Nor will he be influential with recruits or running Bama’s NIL program.

Would everyone agree that Bamas schedule for 2024-2028 is more difficult than at any stretch under Sabans tenure?

There isn't another Saban. The closest thing to him is in Athens.

Saban staying around was a field dressing to stem bleeding. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We’ll be back at some point.

They are all into the Rewards but not so much into the responsibilities.

Imagine that.

Absolutely mindblowing that we’d schedule like that knowing the SEC would expand and that there was a good chance Saban would be gone by then.
