I've passed on subtle hints that the staff are losing faith in Barnett taking the reigns. He hasn't developed like they hoped. Bateman same story. Bateman has a ton of potential it's just not coming together well for him. Sure we could risk playing him and our short to intermediate pass game would be fine. But a good secondary team would destroy him. People put way to much stock in spring practice, both from a development standpoint and what they see. Cornwallis is your standard pro style kid, he is slow as I've ever seen but he throws well. He isn't dumb and not the smartest I've ever seen either. That leaves Hurts a kid with great ability but is green. Will be interesting.

Too bad Coker didn't have another year, he got better and better as the season went on.

If Phil Savage's observations are accurate, it won't be Bateman, unless Kiffin can work some serious magic. The long ball "falling apart" is a disaster waiting to happen. Even with the Heisman winner last year, if we don't have a QB who can throw the long ball, we're toast. Long balls that fall apart get run back the other way.

It is, I've heard it from several sources on ground.
Bateman knows the playbook but is a little more athletic than Alec Morris if you catch my drift.
Kiffin from what I could tell is already moving his focus.

Then hopefully Kiffin and Saban get on the same page...sooner rather than later.

I think this guy is trying to tell us he has sources.

Not as a freshman. He's talented, but it takes more than what you saw in a spring scrimmage to win in SEC play. I do think he'll be great in a year or two.

Boz is as legit as they come with the inside scoop, whether you choose to believe it or not. And Phil Steele's QB projections are right on the money to anyone who's a) actually played organized football , b) had their ear to the ground for the last several months re: Bama.

0 for 3 in this thread? How? Where?

I agree, Boz is sometimes wrong... but mostly a great source of what is happening on campus.
As to the QB, the "balls beyond 25 yards fall apart" is extremely off-putting. And as has been mentioned, Jake hit long passes often last year and that kept the CB's honest. If they know going in that Bama QB is not able to pitch it deep, well what good are these great receivers? Screens and short game only goes so far. Still hopeful one of these guys and their QB Gurus will find some of the magic that Sims and his guy hooked into before his final season.
