I live in Baton Rouge. You don't know these people like I do. Had the refs called the game fairly I believe we could have had a similar situation as what's happened to some soccer refs. If Saban coaches for another 10 years which is possible I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the SEC. That's how mentally fragile LSU is.

Yes it is. The refs kept the flags in their pockets for both teams. Bama had some absolutely egregious holds

It looked like 9 went for Tua knee on that play that was whistled to a stop.

Seemed normal to me really. There is a reason why our opponents were least penalized in 2016 and almost there in 2017.

The targeting overturn though - I might have to agree. I'm a bit torn on that one because last year I would have said not targeting because he had caught the ball and wasn't defenseless etc. But this year they haven't really been doing the whole "not a defenseless runner" thing and have counted it.

I would prefer the way they called it last year to this year, but I think they overturned this one because of pressure.

As far as the holds and such goes - normal crap we deal with in every game.

On the post game show here in Baton Rouge an LSU fan said he felt they overturned the targeting call because the refs were afraid the fans would storm the field. I'm not exaggerating when I say those refs were scared for their lives and they had good reason to be. Louisiana hasn't led the nation in gun violence for almost 30 consecutive years for no reason.

LSU was constantly holding.

That is an understatement of the year. Bear hugs, pulling jerseys off almost, and talking the DL when they could.

I tend to believe the referees are honest actors who are sometimes just not that good at their jobs.

Statistically speaking, the rate at which our opponents are flagged for holding is such an outlier from the norm that extreme referee bias is literally the only explanation for it.

When a conspiracy theory can be substantiated with objective data it’s no longer a conspiracy theory.

Bottom line IMO is they don’t want to let the games get more out of hand than they already do so they figure “we don’t need their help”.

You know, you could always just stop responding to it. We get it. You're the contrarian.

You aren’t wrong...but complaining about refs is lame. LSU got calls and still got stuffed which is a gift that will keep on giving.

They were horribly holding all night and I also so an awful hands to the face by their DL on one play.

The refs were scared to throw flags in general last night, they sorta let them play, which is typically a good thing.

Was def. to LSU's overall favor.

guys what's even more disgusting is, had that lsu player not hit Tua from the back and caused him to crouch over, that "goodies" shot, would've been right on Tua's right knee.

like that great philosopher Boz Scaggs once said, it's "Dirty Low Down"

I sat in the middle of an LSU section and my takeaway is that the Rant is really indicative of how delusional that fanbase is when it comes to the refs. Constant whining and complaining after every play about a call or no call.

So glad we MTAQ like we did and gave them no excuses or anything to cling to.

Perhaps it was just the camera angle, but it looks like their defense of line was not only lined up in the neutral zone but their helmets were across the line of scrimmage about 50% of the time

ETA: I worded that poorly. It looked like they were in the neutral zone about 50% of the time. And some of those times it even looked like their helmets were across the line of scrimmage
