The official participation stats don't show Foster as having played although there have been mistakes in the past. But I don't remember seeing him in the game and I was looking for him and Falkins. Black and Parker Barrineau were the main WRs playing mop-up against VT though I suppose Foster could've slipped in at some point or on STs

I didn't see him either, but thought I'd post what they did. Not sure if we will RS him.

I'm hoping to see more freshman contributions this weekend during CS.

Dakota Ball broke his foot in practice yesterday, should be out 2 months.

That's too bad; just had his appendix out 3 weeks ago. No real impact for us in terms of game-play but I imagine we're getting thin on the DL in terms of practice players after losing Ball, Tomlinson, and Paige. Guess that's what walk-ons are for.

Belue, who is considered "day to day" and "questionable" for Saturday's game against Colorado State, was entrenched as a starter at one of Alabama's boundary cornerback spots. Saban said five cornerbacks are competing for increased playing time in the event Belue is unable to play.
"Whether it be John Fulton, Bradley Sylve, Cyrus Jones and two freshmen, we're letting all of those guys to compete," Saban said on Wednesday's SEC teleconference. "And at the end of the week we'll see which one of those guys can play the best and those are the guys we'll put out there in the game."

He was in another article:

quote:

"Geno's got to beat somebody out. He lost his job," Saban said. "Jarrick's played really well. So, I mean, nobody has a rite of passage here just because you played in two games last year.

"'I'm guaranteed my job.' If you do the right things and you play well, nobody gets your job."

So he has to beat out Jarrick to get the Star spot back. Still surprised he wasn't even mentioned as a candidate to replace Belue if he can't go. Wonder if it's because he's still working his way out of the doghouse or if he just isn't that well-suited for outside corner

I'm not sure. Could be a mixture of both. I'm hoping it's because there is some good talent that's ready to step up though.

I hate that Geno is unable to play, but I'm glad Saban is standing his ground with him.

Geno does not yet have the trust of Saban or the skill set to be placed on an island at the boundary corner. That is largely why he was at star to begin with.

Notes from Wed Press Conference, courtesy of al.com

-- It's not just younger players. The vets need to step up more as well, Saban said.

-- INJURY UPDATE: Dakota Ball broke his foot. It will be 6-8 weeks before he can be back.

-- Saban asked about Trent Richardson trade. He said he hopes this is a good move for him. "The guy was a fantastic player here."

-- Asked about moving Brandon Greene to TE, Saban said they knew it would be a work in progress, but gave the team two big guys to play TE.

-- OJ Howard needs to get a little bigger and stronger, but his athleticism is a real asset, Saban said.

-- Teams aren't guarding Amari Cooper much differently than in the past, Saban said.

-- AJ McCarron can decide to change plays as part of the packaging of the play.

-- Saban said he used to call his own plays as a sophomore high school quarterback.

-- "I wish players would give us more information in a game."

-- There are a lot of similarities in the offense Jim McElwain runs at Colorado State and the one he had at Alabama. He uses a lot of formations to make things difficult on defenses.

-- Anthony Steen practiced today and Saban expects him to play Saturday. He was injured Saturday.
