There are two key components to having an undefeated season. The first and most important is having a good football team. But having a schedule full of teams you're likely to beat helps, too. This is a look at which teams have both.

Please consider the most likely undefeated teams to win their remaining regular season games, according to ESPN's Football Power Index.

10) Washington (4-0), 6.2 percent

You were mystified by the Washington hype over the summer, but now here they are: undefeated with one third of the season in the rear-view mirror. The Huskies' toughest remaining test comes Friday when reigning Pac-12 champion Stanford comes to Seattle. Washington is a narrow favorite in that one, and if they survive the Cardinal, the Huskies will likely be favored in each of their remaining regular season games.

9) San Diego State (3-0), 7.2 percent

The most fun scenario for the Mountain West Conference is for SDSU and Boise State to go undefeated out of the Mountain and West divisions (yes, those are the names of the Mountain West's divisions) before colliding in the MWC championship game. Neither team plays a tough enough OOC schedule to work their way into the College Football Playoff conversation, but they could position themselves as Group of 5 CFP spoilers headed into 2017.

8) Houston (4-0), 7.4 percent

There are never any guarantees in college football – and, don't forget, last year Houston had its undefeated season spoiled by UConn – but it sure seems like the Cougars are set up to coast through mid-November before a pair of tough games against Louisville and Memphis. Louisville is the best team in the country right now, and Houston gets them on a short week after playing Tulane. If they upset the Cardinals, the Cougars then have to travel to Memphis, where the Tigers are so far showing no ill effects of losing Paxton Lynch and Justin Fuente.

7) Clemson (4-0), 8.2 percent

The Tigers have been a bit sluggish on offense to start the season, but their month of October is bookended by the two games most likely to determine their fate. Clemson hosts College GameDay and the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday and then travels to Florida State on Oct. 29. There's a road trip to Boston College and a home date against N.C. State in between, and those teams have been thorns in the Tigers' side in the past, but the 2016 editions don't seem remotely up to the task.

6) Alabama (4-0), 14.4 percent

The Crimson Tide have the toughest remaining schedule of any team on this list, which is why they're not ranked higher. Alabama's toughest three-week stretch of the season comes in mid-October, with back-to-back road trips to Arkansas and Tennessee followed by a home game against Texas A&M. Then 'Bama has a bye before its first trip to post-Les Miles Baton Rouge, and who the heck knows what to expect in that one.

5) Ohio State (3-0), 17 percent

The Buckeyes get to coast through the first two games of their Big Ten schedule with home games against Rutgers and Indiana. Then things pick up with consecutive road trips to Camp Randall and Beaver Stadium. The real test of OSU will be its brutal November, which see the Buckeyes play Nebraska, Michigan State, and Michigan over the course of four weeks.

4) Western Michigan (4-0), 18.6 percent

The Broncos have had the top recruiting class in the MAC three years running, and that's got them set up to row their boat right through their conference in 2016. WMU has already gone on the road and beaten two Big Ten teams, so now that MAC play is about to start, it's just a matter of not losing concentration and taking a week off. One of Western Michigan's toughest tests will come Saturday at Central Michigan, which you might recall upset Oklahoma State two weeks ago.

3) Michigan (4-0), 19.1 percent

Any given Saturday and all that, but it's really hard to see the Wolverines having a chance to lose any more than three of the games remaining on their schedule. Michigan gets Wisconsin at home on Saturday fresh off of the Badgers' 30-6 blowout of Michigan State. On Oct. 29, Jim Harbaugh's squad travels to Michigan State, looking to end break a bad run against the Spartans. And then – do I even have to say it? – UM travels to Ohio Stadium for The Game, which could be a de facto College Football Playoff elimination game and decide the Big Ten East.

2) Louisville (4-0), 26.1 percent

The thing about the ACC Atlantic is it has three great teams but not much else once you get past that trio at the top. And Louisville plays the last of the division's good teams on Saturday when they travel to Clemson, with the pole position in the Atlantic on the line. If the Cardinals get past Clemson, all they'll have to do for the next month and a half is not slip up against some of the weakest competition the ACC has to offer. Then everything will come down to a massive Thursday night game against Houston on Nov. 17.

1) Boise State (3-0), 29 percent

The Broncos really did try to schedule a challenging a tough non-conference schedule this year, but unfortunately the two Pac-12 teams they played haven't done them any favors by losing to an FCS team (Washington State) and Minnesota (Oregon State). Boise State's remaining strength of schedule ranks 97th in the country, which means they have a good shot at running the table but a bad shot at crashing the College Football Playoff.

Drew DeArmond announced the torn meniscus on BamsRadio last week. It think the official statements from Coach Saban serve to confim his hate for insiders of all types (Websites/MessageBoards/Podcasts/other forms of Social Media/etc)...

Saban rarely is forthcoming with actual injury information. Think Barrett Jones and his "sprain" which really was a broken foot.

No way Damien Harris just has an "ankle sprain" either. We all saw his knee go the wrong way.

No, we didn't.

As soon as the trainers got to his side, he immedately directed them to his ankle. They never once looked at his knee.

Just watch it right here

People posting on the in-game thread also said he went to the locker room with his ankle heavily wrapped.

IMO, those are all pretty odd ways to react to a knee injury.

I don't think that is clear in all from the replay. You don't really see anything. They do touch his ankle right before the camera switches but that's it.

When it shows the good angle of him getting hit, you can cleary see his knee bend. Even the announcer makes a noise and when the other dude stops talking he even says (paraphrased) "they're gonna be checking out that knee" .

It's not his knee. It's his ankle. When they show him on the sidelines this weekend wearing a boot, are you still going to claim that Saban is lying?

He was wearing one today as a matter of fact:

quote:

Alabama returned to the practice field Monday afternoon for its first on-field preparation day of Kentucky week. The Crimson Tide players practiced outdoors and shells on a mostly-sunny, 84-degree afternoon.

Here are several observations from the media viewing portion of Alabama’s Monday practice in Tuscaloosa:

- Running back Damien Harris (ankle) sported a walking boot and a black jersey near the end of one media viewing period. Head coach Nick Saban said the tailback is considered day-to-day and “probably won’t do much today.”

- Wide receivers ArDarius Stewart (knee) and Robert Foster (knee) both wore black jerseys and were off to the side with head trainer Jeff Allen. Stewart wore a brace on his left knee. Foster wore a lighter one on his left knee.

- Linebacker Rashaan Evans participated in drills and was moving well during Monday’s media viewing portion or practice. This comes after he appeared limited last week and did not play in Saturday’s game against Kent State.

- Corner Marlon Humphrey wore a hamstring support apparatus on his right leg. The redshirt sophomore defensive back appeared to tweak his hamstring versus the Golden Flashes but returned to the field after examination.

- Running back Bo Scarbrough worked near the back of the line in position drills. Scarbrough sustained a thigh bruise in the Kent State game, according to Saban, and is likely just taking it easy in the early goings this week.

- Ronnie Clark and Derrick Gore wore scout-team Nos. 3 and 18 and led the running backs in drills, followed by the freshmen and Scarbrough. Kentucky tailbacks Jojo Kemp and Stanley “Boom” Williams wear those numbers.

- Formerly-suspended players Tony Brown and Johnny Dwight were both at practice, and Brown sported his new -- and old -- No. 2. Dwight wore his usual 36, but the Wildcats also have a nose tackle, Jacob Hyde, that wears it.

- With Stewart and Foster both still limited by injuries, Trevon Diggs continues to work at wide receiver.

*** What’s next: Alabama will be back at practice Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. CT.

TUSCALOOSA -- Cornerback Tony Brown can return to the field Saturday against Kentucky, after sitting out the first four games of 2016 because of an NCAA suspension, adding another former five-star player to the active roster.

Brown first has to develop “trust in his teammates and the coaches,” head coach Nick Saban said, before the staff begins to work him back at his familiar positions of corner and Star within the Crimson Tide secondary.

But his teammates seemed more than excited to have one of the funniest players on the team back on the field.

“He was upset that he couldn’t be out there with us, he couldn’t travel with us,” Minkah Fitzpatrick said. “The last couple of weeks he’s been working really hard. He’s been staying focused, and he’s really boosting up the team’s energy. That’s what he does all the time, and we know we are going to be really happy to have him out there and add some depth to the secondary.”

Brown was sent home from the Cotton Bowl semifinal against Michigan State last December for violating team rules and did not travel to Arizona for the national title game. In the spring, the junior defensive back practiced with the team, but Saban said he was facing suspensions, which proved to be correct. The Tide appealed Brown’s suspension this offseason.

He and redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Johnny Dwight were announced as eligible for Saturday’s game versus Kentucky, Saban said Monday in a news conference, after neither player traveled to Arlington or Oxford.

Last week, for the first time this fall, Brown was seen practicing at safety with the second-team defense. On the sidelines during Alabama’s two home games, Brown was close to strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran, bouncing around and trying to energize his teammates. But that’s just Tony. He’s been the same person on the practice field and everywhere else.

“His mindset hasn’t changed since the first day of practice,” junior linebacker Shaun Hamilton said of Brown. “He’s a guy who always comes ready to practice. Always has the juice. Tony is a maniac.”

Other players echoed Hamilton’s thoughts. Calvin Ridley was asked who was faster, himself or Brown, and he quickly conceded to the defensive back. Fitzpatrick was asked if Brown is one of the best athletes on the team. “You already know the answer to that.” Hamilton said Brown “hits like a linebacker” and everyone should “expect some big hits out of him this weekend.”

It may take some time for Brown to see first-team snaps on defense, but with him changing from No. 7 to No. 2, the junior cornerback should see plenty of the field on a special teams coverage unit or two against Kentucky this Saturday. Brown was named a Player of the Week by the Tide staff after four games last season and registered 16 tackles a season ago.

“On special teams, you’ve seen what he can do last year against LSU, he flies down the field and hits people and makes plays,” Fitzpatrick said. “In the secondary, he’s going to add a whole lot of depth that we need just in case somebody goes down or whatever.”

I'm not sure, tbh. I still saw the replay and know Saban's history of concealing injuries.
