To me, Kalen Deboer is the obvious choice.

She's 26.

According to the bing search.

If he's 48...

Look I don't care if he goes all Ed Orgeron. Just saying, the stuffed shirts that decide these things might care, in that it certainly shows he still very much has Freshwater tendencies.

Lanning's interviewing probably as we speak.
If offered, he will accept.
Three big positives.
He was an outstanding defensive coach for UGA. He's a relentless recruiter.
He's also good at motivating, relating to the players.
Only thing that concerns me is he only having two years of head coaching experience.
Whomever it is, next year will probably be our most difficult schedule ever.

I would argue this was the case some years back. He’s cleaned up his image and found success at ole miss

He's now openly dating a college aged girl, the same way he tried to as Joey Freshwater at Alabama. He's still running his mouth and saying stupid stuff at almost every opportunity, like when he told viewers to get their popcorn ready before getting blown out by Alabama. The fact that he's gone three years without some major scandal for the first time in his career doesn't mean he's cleaned up his image.

When Kiffin was Lanning's age, he was destroying USC's dynasty, taking a preseason #1 team to a 7-6 season.

Kiffin has off the field baggage- doesn't bother me much but I can definitely see it bothering those with money.

What I don't want in Kiffin is his in-game decisions. He does things in games that would absolutely break this board. We don't need that

I have a hard time believing there's an interview involved here. Perhaps contract discussions or trying to agree to terms.

Lanning is appealing because of his youth/energy and he is in the mold of Saban/Kirby seeming to have learned from both of them and trying to implement that style on his own path. He's obviously much greener, though, and that's where the risk comes in.

Thats not true. Sanctions destroyed usc from pete carrol years. Lane had a recruiting class of like 13.

When Lane was even younger than Lanning he was HC of the raiders. He has a ton of experience, and his best football is ahead of him.

I want Lane Kiffen - he + Bama would be a force.

However if Lanning could get schumann out of uga that wouldnt be a bad deal.

Either way Rees is GONE :fistpump:

Think it's pretty much a done deal

For those that don't follow the basketball program closely, Byrne told different members of his department that different coaches would be our next HC and many respectable journalists reported we had hired Thad Matta. Needless to say that whoever Byrne told that Matta was our guy is likely no longer in the inner circle. I'm not saying that Lanning won't be the selection, but take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Josh Pate has reported that Lanning hasn't been in Tuscaloosa at all, and he's very well sourced for both schools. Seems like some Greg Byrne mischief to me.

I mean, personally, high five. Kit's kinda weird. But kinda awesome.

I'm 40, 8-9 years younger than Lane. I could see hookinh up with someone 25, but couldn't imagine actually dating someone that young. Aside from being them being hot, it seems like a nightmare. The maturity difference would be too much. But Lane has never been known as being very mature.

Edit: that said, I'm not holding it against him. Or that it's a reason to not hire him Just saying, I've had friends and family date with a 15 year gap to someone in their mid 20. And the sex was probably the only good thing about the relationship. And sex is very far from everything.

That's 2 years more than Kirby had at Georgia. And he's only 3 years younger than Kirby when he took the Georgia job. And Kirby was in a very unique position to hold out for his dream job or destination job.

Probation destroyed USC's dynasty. Kiffin was just dumb enough to take the job.

but I’d heard that one member of the BOT has stated that he will never, ever in a million years vote to approve Lane for the job.

Someone doesn't understand the executive structure of universities and school accreditation.

Boards of trustees have one employee and one employee only.

And a trustee put in a call to that one employee and said “I want him gone and here’s why” and that’s why Kiffin didn’t get to coach through the championship. It wasn’t Saban’s call. So needless to say, the trustees hold a lot of power.

I don’t believe that bullshite for a minute. No trustee would tell Saban what to do about on the field personnel decisions

I suppose yall dont even bother looking into these coaches records. Deboer with inferior talent, is 3-0 against both Sark and Lanning this season. Lanning got humiliated by Kirby. Im so glad fans dont have a say in a coaching search.

He didn’t tell Saban. He told the school president.
