Have you seen his wife? Damn, I'd tolerate Kiffin just as long as we see some eye candy...aka his wife.

Kiffin evaluating our Offense?

I think people underestimate the amount of research
and work the staff does on breaking down Bama, and then
breaking down individual plays, playbooks, players, etc.

Trust me, if it can be analyzed, the staff does it. Bama is not going to be outworked under Saban.

Kiffin is a great OC, but I see now way Saban would give him enough control on the offense. Not to mention I think Kiffin would jump at the first HC job he could at a big time school.

Man, Tennessee would REALLY hate our guts if he was a success here.

Actually he is begging Saban for a reference to the Texas job.

Kiffin is a great coordinator...Just way in over his head as a HC.

I've never been one to get into criticizing assistants beyond a point, or second guessing hires. Saban is the head coach...it all begins and ends with him. If he thinks he should hire Kiffin, then I won't spend two seconds doubting him. And if Kiffin fails, I won't spend two seconds criticizing Kiffin.

That having been said, Kiffin has a terrific offensive mind, although some of the decisions and game planning he did this year were baffling. And he's a helluva recruiter. So yeah, I could get real excited about seeing him as an assistant. He worked his arse off at Tennessee.

It kind of makes sense that they'd bring Kiffin in to talk. He and Sark ran the offense at USC. Coach Nuss came from Sark's system at Washington. If there is anyone who we could bring in that has an intimate knowledge of the offense we are running it's Kiffin. It's not like Sark is going to take a break from his new USC gig to come and chat with our staff. Knowing the connection, Nuss probably has a relationship with Kiffin.

I saw this link on a blog about the visit. Reading through the Evolution of the USC offense, which in reality is pretty much our current scheme. It gives some insight on the changes that were made and the evolution of going from the Norm Chow BYU offense to what they ran through the end of Pete Carrols run. The interesting part was the breakdown of the offensive line scheme. Which I think is interesting, considering the issues that we had there at points during the year. I'd bet that Saban may be looking to adjust some things of that front.

Say what you will about Kiffin, but there probably isn't a better authority to talk to about our offense out there.

I almost ran over Kiffin and Lance Thompson walking around Coleman yesterday. They were just strolling along like an old married couple.

How cool is my story?

He knows the O. If Saban thinks he can help Bama I'm all for using him.

I think he's:

1) evaluating offense to maybe make it more dynamic/change up the offense next year
2) evaluating new QB for next year
& 3) getting a good job rec for the Florida OC job

I do some of my best work right after I have messed up/failed. He has not completely failed as a coach, just made some bad decisions and could not pull the program under control at USC. Just like everyone at some point in their life.

Saban is the best there is at surrounding himself with the right people. Plus Kiffin is prob the best offensive guy that currently does not have a job that would be a conflict of interest working with us.

1a) Informing Saban/ Nussmeier that you don't get a penalty for using the tight end/ H-back on pass plays

Kiffin needs more adult supervision than that.

Some guy on BOL posted that he saw Kiffin at practice this evening decked out in Bama gear.

Not going to lie, I wouldn't mind having him on staff. The dude has a stacked resume and knows football. He may not be a great coach but im sure there is a lot behind the scenes that he is good at.

I think if he were to make the staff in some capacity, it'd be big for our offense. I really think, with the playoffs coming and Auburn being prominent again, Saban is going to turn up the offense, especially with the talent (Cornwell and Town) we have coming at QB. As long as Kiffin is watched closely, I'm fine with this.
