Just spitballing here, but, Chad Morris anyone?

I watched a Chad Morris coached team when I was in HS in 2008 as a freshman, he was the head coach of Austin Lake Travis HS. And his 2008 team is one of the best HS teams I've ever seen. His QB Garrett Gilbert threw for 4900 yards, 55 TDs, rushed for 780, and had 23 rushing TDs. What a team that was. His team also finished as high as #2 in the nation in certain HS polls.

If the hire lingers out for a few days, I think he'll get a lot of mentions. Now if someone is hired tomorrow, no need for speculation by writers.

I honestly don't know who would be a good hire. I'll just wait until Saban brings someone in and say it's a good hire regardless.

I'd love to see him come and take over the offense. As bad as I hate it I believe the game is changing and the up tempo is just too hard to stop to not run it. Can you imagine a guy like Kenyan in a fast pace offense like that? Chad could do some amazing things with guys like Amari, OJ, Robert Foster and everyone else.

I can't see how anyone has any idea how good Kiffin would be. The only thing he really has going for him is his stint as OC at USCw, and that's scant evidence to go by. He did do a pretty decent job with the offense at UTk, but his college HC career has been too intimately entwined with Monte to really make a good assessment of his offensive coaching ability.

Though it does bear noting that Saban/Smart are better than Monte, so if Lane could turn around the Vol's offense with Monte, he can certainly do exciting things with Bama's offense with Saban/Smart. And anyone worried about him being an NCAA violation waiting to happen should keep in mind that Saban is likely to keep Lane on a very short leash. He already knows Lane's PR issues, so he wouldn't be letting the guy dick around anyway.

Ew, no.

Alabama had a top 20 offense in 2013 and didn't need it, so no thanks.

Show me a HUNH team with a good defense, then tell me Saban is going to adopt that as the primary offensive philosophy.

Bama just wasn't as good this year. It had nothing to do with philosophies.

We were good. We were three missed field goals and a couple botch offensive plays in key moments from going to a third straight NC game.

You are being short sighted. We are not hiring Lane Kiffin the head coach, we are hiring Lane Kiffin the offensive coordinator and recruiting guru.

Then again, uppity people reacted just like you have.. hell even worse when we initial brought in Nick Saban and look at them now.

I was ecstatic when Saban was hired.

Did y'all think we were hiring Bob Stoops at OC when he visited a couple of years ago? Or any of the other guys that come in every off season?

Why would we think that? Did they leave their jobs and come visit us before the bowl season ended?

My point is solid, not that you even addressed it.
