Guy seems super talented. He has a bright future ahead of him.

IIRC Barnett did similar things too, I'm not gonna get my hopes up again with a true freshman, until he plays a snap in 2016 I still think he'll redshirt.

I don't think there is any question about this. If it weren't for Bateman, I think the QB position would be wide open and Hurts may have a legit shot to win the job.

Until Bateman shows up in a meaningful game, I doubt that CNS will take anyone off the table.

Yep. There was talk of BB looking great and being the most talented QB (not saying it wasn't true) pretty late into fall camp last year. He even got a good chunk with the 1's in one scrimmage.

Alec Morris was supposedly AJ's defacto back-up his redshirt year and had a better handle on the offense than either BS or Ely.

People completely counted Bateman out as a QB this time last year because he worked at WR a few times.

Cornwell was many people's pick to be the '15 starter this time last year and wound up 4th string.

I am glad to hear Hurts is doing well but I've learned to not attempt to read the tea leaves when it comes to QB progress/pecking order.

It will be interesting to see how much if any CLK tweaks the offense now that 3 of 4 QBs are legit threats as runners

These are all really good points, but I have a different feeling about Hurts for some reason. I think he is going to be a Deshaun Watson type talent.

Coach Saban reminded me a little bit of listening to Coach Bryant "Poor Mouth" about the Team in Press Conferences. He was so good at that. And then he put it all on himself.

all in for JH. Let's finally see what we can do with a legit running threat at QB. He's looked every bit as good as any QB we have.

Hurts looks miles ahead of everyone else. If the other 3 continue looking shaky and hestitant, they HAVE to let Hurts play & grow.

Im tired of seniority being the most valuable attribute

I agree Hurts looked very good and I'm excited about his potential, but you also have to consider that CNS said the 2nd O is better overall than the 2nd D. If Bateman/Cornwell switched with Hurts, I'm guessing Hurts wouldn't have looked quite so good and Bateman/Cornwell would've looked better. Of course, one would expect Bateman/Cornwell to be more prepared to play with the ones than a true frosh.

I didn't think Bateman looked bad. He played it safe and was going against the best defense he will see all year. He did a hell of a job on the final drive until he threw the pick in the end zone. Honestly, the only qb I was not impressed with was Cornwell.

but with this logic we have won 4 natties. How can you argue with the process.

Seniority is not the most important attribute to coach. It is however huge at quarterback. Experience is critical at that position. Hurts would have looked completely different had he been on the crimson team facing our starting front seven and a Tim Williams in best mode.

CNS said that Hurts had done enough to be in the conversation Before ADay. Then he comes out looks the best at the game IMO.

At a couple different boards I've seen some people say they like BB the best, but I'm lost how they arrived at that conclusion. (should be noted at those boards it is looking like majority agrees Hurts looked the best.)

BB fumbled a snap. Ran around all rat trap and almost knocked CNS over at one point while losing 20 yards or so. He is going to turn the ball over, and he is going to make bad decisions. He has proven that this spring. He is leading all QB's nationwide in interceptions this spring. (I'm kidding but only a little- actually there is a good chance he does lead the country in pick 6 this spring hard to imagine anyone else throwing more)

This was posted by someone around here that was at the scrimmage last week before ADay.

Hurts stole the show Saturday. Really played the best of the four. He's very, very, Blake Sims-ish. The play calling is different when he's in there (boots, short stuff), but he also stood in there and made some throws. Also has big-time wheels. Took off on a 60-yard scramble for a TD off a boot (although it was against the 3s), and ran away from everyone.

***But I'm telling you right now - don't sleep on this kid pushing for the backup role by the fall. I know it was only one scrimmage, but he's really good. Will be really interesting to see him and Barnett battle down the road.

As for Barnett, he just isn't ready. The pick 6 - which was not reported in the official stat release - was his, and it was bad (to Minkah). I mean bad. The game is still happening really fast for him.

So.. the last two scrimmages Hurts was the best QB on the field. Seems like the writing is on wall to me.

The only writing on the wall is that Hurts has a ton of potential. It's also evident that our front seven is going to be completely unfair to quarterbacks this year. Bateman is going to be a winner and playmaker. Can't wait to see a more seasoned Hurts in another year or two.

Barnett and Hurts need to play this year in mop up duty. I expect Bateman to start this year, probably be the worst QB Bama has had since JPW.
