Only 1 ball to go around unfortunately, and Bama really hasn't showcased a backup since they let AJ play in 2010.

It's sucks because it's 3 guys, but they watched a true freshman seal their fate at QB. Gone are the days of sticking it out when you can easily go off and start at another school with the grad transfer rules and whatever loophole BB found.

Grass isn't always greener, Alec Morris learned that getting benched by UNT for a undersized true freshman...

Cornwell was at least smart about it. Worked tail off in classroom, graduated early. Didn't get/earn his shot at Bama, but he can now grad transfer to a P5 school and will have 2 years to compete and maybe be "the guy".

I understand it. They want to play and baring injury, it is not likely to happen at Bama.

It sucks...I hate it...but I understand it.

can't really blame them (as playing a sport as well), although I'd wish they would have waited till the end of the season. On the other hand, leaving now helps them in the long run so we are in the rear mirror *shrug*. I hope all of them the best though, I'm sure they appreciate the time they put forth.

Of course they don't. But you also don't see three QBs leave in one damn season. QBs transferring isn't anything knew at Alabama. We've seen it just about every year since 2007. But this has been a bit ridiculous. It's almost not worth recruiting elite guys there for fear of having major depth issues.

No they don't owe me shite, but when the entire depth chart sans the starter transfers mid-national title run...... I'm allowed to vent my frustration.

They all competed...didn't win the job, and realize they are not likely to see more than mop up duty for their careers at Bama. Pretty easy decision for an elite QB.

I wish them all well and success. QB's in the next class will have the opportunity to see the field...especially if you consider a redshirt year.

It's really tough at the moment, but it is refreshing to see a time at Bama where elite QBs are not on the field because they didn't beat out another elite QB.

At the end of the day they have to do what is best for them.

It's frustrating and it sucks, but that's just the nature of the beast.

It doesn't sound like they (or at least Bateman) are transferring right now. More like they've announced their intention to transfer.

To be fair to them, they've got to get their names out there to find new homes. Unless I missed something they'll also both be graduate transfers, so I can't fault them much at all.

The real problem is that the title game is the second week of January right when most schools are starting back up. Put it a week earlier and there's probably not an issue at all.

Once Hurts won the job it was a done deal. Bateman was the only guy I thought "might" stay. If they couldn't beat Jalen out this year I don't see them taking his job in the summer so it was a pretty logical decision.
