If college ball is going to unions

There has to be some kind of contract that both parties can accept. Will there be trades? Would each sport have their own union and rules, or could they join the football union? Also does Title 9 apply to unions?

I might be getting very close to hanging it up on college football when this occurs. I mean, I'm fine with athletes being to make a little money because the NCAA shite heads were in a bloodlust to take down certain players/programs. I'm just not sure the end product of something like this is going to be anything close to the original college game. I blame the NCAA members' greed and now the athlete's greed.

I’m considering the same thing. It’s going to be a very very difficult decision to make and stick with, if I’m being honest college football makes me feel like a junkie sometimes, I can’t just not watch a game.
But I don’t watch pro football, because Inhate the business side of it, the seemingly constant movement of players from team to team, and that’s what bothers me the most about this new era of college football. I’m ok with the players making money, but the transferring and the money in recruitment I hate. It’s not going to be long before the teams with the most money get the best players, and unfortunately Alabama won’t be one of those.

If I'm going to watch a field full of mercenaries I might as well just watch the superior product on Sundays. It's gotten to the point of ridiculousness.

Tennessee officially ended college football.

Trades, drafts, where does it end? College football has become more of a cesspool than it previously was during the bagman years!

Let the NFL start their own minor league where the 4/5 star types can go if they wish. Then let's get back to student athletes playing college football for a scholarship and a free education. I'd rather watch less talented kids who want to be there play for the schools otherwise I'd just watch the NFL.
At this point I'm starting to prefer just taking my little boys to watch high school games.

With the latest ruling on NIL where there are no restrictions or guidelines I believe that high school athletes can and probably will get paid. I'm thankful my dad didn't have to witness the death throes of the game he loved .
As always my opinion and $3 will get you a cup of coffee.

It’s over. The idea of the student athlete is over. Pretty soon they won’t even enroll in classes. They’ll just be employees-paid to preform a service-or preform on the football field. It’ll basically be a glorified minor league, with the universities fielding the teams. College football as we knew it is dead.
The big time college football programs will eventually break away from the NCAA. Players will have a union and contracts. League will probably even have a salary cap. Seems inevitable at this point

College football needs Nick Saban to become Supreme Emperor of a 50-60 member power league.
Of course, he is secretly all-in on Bama ruling the league.

It will not matter if it was Saban and/or a super league. The players control the market and the game now. People in these collectives loyal to their alma mater are going to do everything they can to buy a championship. Just like a&m and now UT. Both trying to be relevant.
Super league or not the game as we know is disappearing. Student athletes in the major sports will become a thing of the past. Top athletes will become employees of the university with contracts.
Everyone keeps commenting on a so called super league but will it improve the game? In my opinion it will not and will hurt the athletes in the long run. Sure the 5 star will have a place to play but the majority of players may see their career end in HS. Programs like Dartmouth have stated if their players form a union they will possibly drop the program. They give no athletic scholarships and the football program makes no money. If a super league were to form I would wager many programs will no longer offer football as TV contracts and other revenue will not be available to the majority of programs outside of the super league.
My love for the sport has been waning already and now like others have mentioned the desire to watch it is no longer exciting.

If the Ivy League schools re- enter into the football picture with serious intent then nobody is outspending then. Have wondered about that recently.
What if Stanford steps up and shows them a blueprint?

That's just not going to happen. Neither the Ivy League, nor their alumni care enough for football.

Ate dinner with my high school football coach who just retired and some guys I played with. Someone asked him about NIL in high school, and he said it's already happening.

As long as the US Department of Education calls them students, Title IX will govern them.

It would be spectacular if someone could somehow organize the fans to opt out of the sport until this nonsense is fixed. We cant just have a no rules apply to paying players environment. Thats the dumbest thing ever.

Just to clarify any university that receives federal money their employees whether students or not fall under the protection of Title IX. Meaning I as an employee of the university I work at am governed by Title IX.

Having to go to class isn't very fair or equitable.
It all started with coaching salaries getting out of control. Saban had a lot to do with that because programs became desperate to replicate his success at Alabama. ADs got to play with monopoly money. And then 2020 came and basically broke the nation everywhere, including college football. Every party justifies their own greed because every other party is greedy too. The love of money...
