Hurts' bad day is FAR from the most concerning thing today.

His second half wasn't bad, and hopefully Tua will be back soon.

I'm more concerned with the offensive line. I have no idea what other scrimmages looked like, but today they were like a sieve. Saban was too generous by saying there was "too much pressure in the backfield". They looked like absolute shite for much of the game.

Womack was out and he was a starter.

To be fair to both Jalen and the OL, that defensive front seven is fricking nasty.

Enjoyed watching Tennison get a nice block. he was controlling Chris Allen on 1 play i watched highlights that led to a nice run.

I don’t think the offensive line ever looks good in the A-Day game. I think they will probably be fine.

This. The OL is always behind the DL in spring and early fall

He is a backup, but Deonte Brown was consistently blocking Phidarian Mathis with only one arm when Mathis would try to bullrush on pass plays.

Brown needs a lot more work, but that impressed me.

Leatherwood and Williams need to switch spots. Both guys were walked backwards into the pocket on pass plays at one point or another, and that's a major problem. They both seem to struggle with the footwork at their current positions, and thus struggle to set their base and transfer the power to their upper body.

They've both shown they play well when swapped to other tackle spot, Leatherwood showed out playing LT against UGA, and Williams played RT at a high level for an entire season.

This wasn't the standard defecit because of learning a more complex playbook than the defense. They were physically dominated at every single position.

ETA - On the flip side. There's a lot to be excited about on the D line. Davis was unstoppable. I was impressed with the pressure Miller got from the outside, too.

How much of it is injury prevention? Certainly, the starters hold back just a bit to avoid getting hurt

Nick mentioned it had been a problem in the spring. But a dline playing against a vanilla offense that you know is passing makes things probably look a little worse than it really is.

I feel like I remember Tim Williams getting like 6 sacks one A-Day

After watching the game Jalen just won't throw it. He has as much time as Mac had in the pocket. Now the coverage may have been better idk but he had time most plays. He just pumps then runs.

What about the catch and TD for Townsend? Maybe he will stay at WR. Very under radar guy that played QB at a small school. He is fast and shifty.

Most of the time he had more time than Mac.

I hear and read the same shite that’s in OP’s post about the OL every season seems like. Every year it’s going to be a damn disaster.
