That doesn't explain the issue. Only that they've made up publicly via twitter.

I can only speculate. I saw Foster get in Harrison's face after he'd bowed up at a USC player just after making it 4th down for USC. The scuffle was right after that. So it sounds like we've got some leadership trying to get guys not to make dumb penalties to keep the drive alive.

Perhaps Eddie Jackson got on him too--but I didn't see it.

Love his intensity, but he looked pissed off about something all game. Like he has a temper. Hoping it won't be a problem.

I've read that a couple guys on defense(first Eddie, then Reuben) had some words for him after a big play by USC where Harrison made a mistake or something. Guess he didn't take kindly to it...? If that's the case, I don't really mind him getting upset if that was the case. What I read said he simply missed a tackle that he was in position to make. Physical mistakes happen.

I posted this in the other thread too but he's def a hot head. Even Saban couldn't get through to him. Kinda wished he would've benched him for a series to prove the point... Really hope that's not an issue.

But otherwise he did a great job. Was fast to the ball and hit hard. He and EJ are freaks at safety.

We didn't see him get in the face of any USC players in 2nd half. Seems like they did get through to him.

Yep, I didn't like seeing that. If you make a mistake and senior leaders give you an ear full you say sorry and move on. Not go all gangsta, let's fight crap. I thought Foster was about to whip his butt right on the sideline and if it happens again he probably should. No need for that mess from a young guy like Harrison. Play ball and keep your mouth shut underclassman. This is where we miss a guy like Ashawn or Rolo...guys didn't even think about crossing those leaders.

The way Saban handled it made makes me think Harrison wasn't TOO out of line. That wasn't angry Saban. He was more just pleading for Harrison to shake it off.

yeah, bad attitudes don't last long with Saban.

Defense doesn't play on that level without that kind of fire. Those are savages. Older alpha dogs have to keep the younger alpha dogs in check. This proves this defense has leadership and fire. Roll Tide.

Agreed. It looked like more of a AJ "calm the frick down" moment instead of a Saban's truly pissed moment.

Exactly. There is nothing to see here.

" I thought Foster was about to whip his butt right on the sideline and if it happens again he probably should. No need for that mess from a young guy like Harrison. Play ball and keep your mouth shut underclassman."

I agree and also foster,Allen and Jackson are implementing our new DC mentality.
Harrison last year had plays were he could have brought the wood and did not.

He has a habit of only bringing it when he wants to and not every play.

Remember when the word on hootie was physically developed but would not hit like he should.
last year 24 brought it while Eddie protected the cb's.
I cant count how many times smith came up against the Lsu7 and other RB of the conference.

Harrison has the talent to be a great combo safety.
Cover and hit ala a Sean Taylor type.

But he has to take to coaching because his temper will cause him to miss a call and
blow a coverage in a big game.

It's the same thing that was taught to foster.
harness it but still bring it..Stay focus.

Supposedly Harrsion was getting all worked about USCs trash talk exacerbated by the nut stomping....Eddie, rueben, and then Saban had to settle him down.

Saban says

quote:

Eddie Jackson tried to tell Ronnie Harrison that we don’t trash talk. Ronnie get upset. Not necessarily at Eddie, but more about the trash talk. “When you have a teammate that cares about you, the response should be thank you. Not screw you.” Ronnie Harrison is a fine young man. That’s totally out of character for him. He’s apologized for it. I don’t think it’ll be an issue again.

Heard the Saban clip talking about it. Pretty spot on. Was upset with the smack talk and when he was tried to calm down he just was still amped. As Saban said... "when a teammate tries to help you, say thank you, not screw you".

^ what jatebe posted.. I was a lil off in my paraphrasing.

Yeah after Saban told him calm down we need you, he seemed to calm down a lot.

On the opening kickoff a USC player got in his face after the whistle and who knows what he said but Harrison started pushing and was clearly extremely angry and then that carried over.

Coaches and teams are desperate to pick up an edge and would be smart to instigate something with him. Just his first start so I'm sure he was amp'd... He will learn.
