The ACC was 100% as good and as deep, probably deeper, than the SEC was this year. The SEC was abysmal.

Since 2011 (6 years)
70-13
1 National Championship
1 National Runner-Up
4 BCS/Playoff appearances
3 ACC Titles
3 Top 10 finishes
6 Top 25 finishes

I mean, that's as good as anyone in football not named Nick Saban. Over a 6 year period.

He gets one...........only one!
Gotta give em props, they outplayed us in the fourth quarter. I have a feeling it won't happen again any time soon.

Second to only one..............

He's almost a complete opposite of Saban in what we see, I think that's why some people are put off by him, but there's no denying he is a hell of a football coach.

Yea, I'm totally fine with somebody not wanting him here (though I then move on to the "if not him, who" question, but that's neither here nor there).

However, acting like he's a goof who has just sort of lucked into some good teams just isn't true. He took over an underachieving program and made it elite. He's finished in the Top 10 with difference OCs, different DCs, different QBs, etc. He has NFL talent everywhere. His guys play hard as hell and without fear. He has beaten everybody from Saban to Meyer to Stoops to Fisher.

He's a damn good football coach.

I don't want Dabo either. He's a fricking clown and the ACC has only two good teams despite what the media is telling people. Louisville was trash. UNC was the 3rd best team and they aren't bad but certainly not elite.

The man is the only college football coach to ever beat Urban Meyer and Nick Saban back to back. He might come across as goofy to you, but he's a heckuva football coach and an even better man. I would do back flips for Dabo to come to Bama after Nick hangs it up. Question is, will he want to at that point? What he has built and is building at Clemson is impressive.

I'm a Dabo fan, but he's about to find out that sustaining a championship program is much different than building one. His entire tenure has been based on taking Clemson from being the second-tier, little brother type program to being an elite program. Now they are finally there. Saban preaches this all the time but following up success with more success is the toughest aspect of coaching because you are battling human nature. Being the underdog has been Dabo's M.O.. Well that's no longer the case. I'm interested to see how that program handles it.

But if Saban left today, I would take that "clown" in a heartbeat. Proven coaches with Championship resumés don't grow on trees. Dabo is now one of them and his track record against other elite coaches is impressive. Just because he doesn't pace silently on the sideline doesn't mean he's not a damn good coach who isn't worthy of being at UA.

BTW, what impresses me most is that Dabo got them back to the title game. Think about how many programs lose the National Championship and then suck the next year or see a dropoff. That's a Saban-esque accomplishment right there.

The ACC has been Clemson and FSU for years years now. It's trash. I didn't say the SEC was better this yesr though. Dominating a shitty ACC made Bobby Bowden a legend and once teams stsrted to catch up he was finished. Let's see how Dabo does without Watson and with UNC being built up to legitimacy.

VT has sucked for years but they are gtting better too. Miami has been dogshit for over 10 uears and I don't think Richt will do any better there than he did at UGA and he just lost the all time leading passer in Miami history.

Meyer at least won two titles in the SEC before running off to the sorry arse and easy to win in B1G. Let's see if Dabo can keep going without Watson and with VT and UNC on the rise.

Dabo has never had to deal with the pressure that Saban and Meyer have had to and I'm not sure he coukd handle it. Like someone else said, he has played the role of underdog to perfection but at Bama he wouldn't be able to play that role. It's chamionships or bust.

John Gruden told Tony Barhardt that he was going to take the Bama job if Saban turned them down after Rodriguez balked. So that's who I want. Gruden or Harbaugh but Harbaugh won't leave his alma mater.
